Its un automatic system (GPS & Inmarsat satellite)
Real-time information on the fishing fleet
Optimization of the use of patrol aircrafs and ships
Provide services for the marine professionals.
Rapid intervention for rescue
Watching navigation in national waters (Pyracy, security, etc.)
Improving Management of fishery efforts
Strengthening life safety at sea, etc.
Possibility to add in the futur more sensors for monitoring other physico-chemical parameters.

4 at the Atlantic coast and 2 at the Mediterranean side.
in 2005, Probably one more in Atlantic within the Odinafrica III project (GOOS WP), and one in the Mediterranean with the CIESM support.

Conclusion
Even we have not completely benefit from all MAMA WPs, due to internal problems (funds, visa, etc.) we have succeded in strengthening awareness of decision makers on the benefits of Operational Oceanography. This constitute an important step to force Ocean Observations in their agenda.
