The functions of a university are multifaceted to the extent thatthey can be termed as 'indefinable', but all those functions can beaptly synthesized into one outcome that is "Development of theHuman Personality". Curricular and the extra-curricular activitiesgroup together for facilitating the desired development.Universities are no doubt the fountain-springs of knowledge andthe most productive centers for the generation of knowledge. Theyare also the nurseries for sports which contribute to the physicaland intellectual development of the students and inculcate in themthe qualities of justice, fair play tolerance and perseverance.

Games and sports teach us how to be human. We should not besurprised if they are termed as something that allows us toexplore and share our common roots and sensibilities, whereverwe live, whatever the cultures from which we draw sustenanceand whatever faiths we honor and respect. All of us, irrespectiveof our geographical, racial and lingual boundaries feel the urge tocompete in games of skill, agility and energy to prove our capacityto excel and simultaneously to draw enjoyment out of the activity.

A famous Dutch Sociologist and historian has remarked. "Naturecould- easily have given her children purely mechanicalexercises and emotions. But no, she gave us play, with itstensions, its mirth and its fun". The establishment of a FitnessCenter at BUITEMS, Takatu Campus is a vital step towards theprovision of facilities for physical development of the body andstreamlining the body f itness necessary for outstandingaccomplishments in all spheres.

The Balochistan University of Information Technology,Engineering and Management Sciences held comprehensivesports meet in May, 2008. The meet produced all the desiredobjectives of keen competition, sense of achievement, team spirit, compassion and acceptance of defeat etc. The meet also wasan opportunity for the students to briefly withdraw from thedemanding field of intellectual pursuit of knowledge and taste thethrill of physical contests.
