This controversial issue is important because:• It is estimated that each year approximately 3
million teens acquire an STD and 860,000 become pregnant.
• Condom distribution programs are shown effective in increasing condom use and condom carrying.
• Condom distribution programs can prevent the spread of HIV/STIs and unintended pregnancies.
