About Our CampsJoin us as part of our camp staff and help create the adventure! We are always looking for quality people who enjoy spending their summer outdoors and helping others. If you are a teacher, retired, or currently attending high school or college then we have a position for you!

As a summer camp staff, you become a vital part in providing quality and exciting programs for Scouts as they visit our camps. We offer paid and volunteer positions. Staff receive free room and board as well as many opportunities to grow as leaders and professionals. All staff undergo an intensive training process to ensure success as a staff member.

Cub Country on Diamond LakeLocated at Cowles Scout Reservation on Diamond Lake, Cub Country is our premier Cub Scout camp. An excellent opportunity for boys currently in the 1st-5th grade, activities and fun are endless!• Full aquatics program including kayaks, paddle boats, rowboats, swimming, fishing and more.• Shooting Sports program including BB guns and archery• Campfire programs, mud cubs, RC cars, tree houses, BMX biking, human foosball and adventure for all

Camp Easton on Lake Coeur d’AleneLocated on the east side of Lake Coeur d’Alene, Camp Easton is our premier aquatics camp. Staff ClassificationsPositions at our Council camps are broken down into three categories: leading staff, director staff, and traditional/junior staff. Below are a brief description of each position offered at our council camps. Some positions may not be offered at all of our camps.

Leading Staff Positions(Minimum Age 21)

ATV Instructor: Responsible for ensuring the Scouts participating in our ASI certification program have a safe and enjoyable program.*

Aquatics Director: The aquatics director is responsible for the aquatics program at camp, and will see that all persons using the aquatic facilities do so in the best interest of safety and acquiring a complete knowledge of aquatic activities.*

Business Manager: The business manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the trading post and dining hall functions. They are also responsible for making trips into town as needed for supplies and other needs. Serves as one of the key three leaders on Camp Staff (valid drivers license and reliable car required).

Camp Chaplain: Assists Scouts with any religious needs they may have. Also is responsible for directing the Scouts own service.

Head Cook: The head cook has complete charge of the kitchen and its operation. This will include the cleanliness of the kitchen and the proper serving of food. They are also in charge of ordering the food each week and making sure it is served on time.

Program Director: Oversees all of the program and staffing needs. Responsible for ensuring the program runs smooth and has adequate resources. Makes up one of the key three leaders on Camp Staff.*

Shooting Sports Director: Responsible for safety and instruction at the camps rifle and shotgun ranges. Ensure all firearms and ammunition is stored and cleaned durring camp.*

*Must attend National Camp School or hold a curent certification.

Director Staff Positions(Minimum Age 18)

Archery Director: Responsible for ensuring the safety and implementation of our archery programs.

Assistant Cook: Assists the head cook with meal preparations. Also oversees the kitchen staff and dining hall steward.

Assistant Ranger: Assists the Ranger with keeping the grounds clean and tidy. Duties may include lawn mowing and directing service projects.

Assistant Waterfront Director: Responsible for assisting the waterfront director with program and staffing needs (strong swimming ability required).

BB Gun Instructor: Instructs range safety and assists Cub Scouts with how to use a BB gun properly.

Commissioner: The Camp Commissioner works closely with assigned units to see that youth and leaders are having a positive camp experience. Also directs service projects.

First-Year Director: Responsible for assisting Scouts who are having their first year at camp. May also oversee staff who also assist the program.

Handicraft Director: Responsible for overseeing the program in the more creative activities located on camp. Also oversees the handicraft program staff.

Health Officer: Directly sees to the health and safety needs of the participants. Varying degrees of qualifications required depending on camp. Please call one of the camp directors to find out more.

Nature/STEM Director: Responsible for directing and managing the program and staff in the Nature/STEM area. They will set up an effective program of ecology and ensure their staff are on task.

Scoutcraft Director: Responsible for overseeing the program in the more skill based activities at camp. Also oversees their staff.

Trading Post Manager: The trading post manager is responsible for running the trading post and ensuring the merchandise is stocked and in order. They are also responsible for making sure the trading post is open as much as possible.

Traditional/Junior Staff Positions(Minimum Age 16)

Den Guide: Assists Cub Scouts and their parents as needed during their stay at Cub Country.

Dining Hall Steward: The dining hall steward is responsible for managing the dining hall and assisting with keeping the kitchen staff on task. They will also assist with washing dishes and serving food as required by the head cook.

Handicraft: Responsible for instructing and teaching the more creative related activities to the Scouts.

Kitchen Staff: Responsible for ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and usable. Will also assist the head cook with duties.

Mountain Sports: Responsible for teaching Scouts how to mountain bike and board. The ability to work on bike maintenance is recommended but not required.

Nature/STEM: Responsible for instructing and teaching nature/STEM related activities to the Scouts.

Quartermaster: Helps issue equipment out to staff and participants as needed.

Scoutcraft: Responsible for instructing and teaching the more Scout based skills such as pioneering and orientating related activities to the Scouts.

Shooting Sports Assistants: Assists shooting sports directors with keeping safety a top priority for the Scouts.

Trading Post Assistant: Responsible for assisting the trading post manager as needed. Main duties include keeping merchandise stocked and helping Scouts with questions.

Aquatics Positions: The American Red Cross certification is recommended but not required. All positions require a strong swimming ability.

Waterfront Staff: Responsible for teaching and instructing Scouts who using the waterfront.

Sailing Instructor: Responsible for teaching scouts how to sail. May also assist with lifeguard duties.

Waterskiing Instructor: Responsible for instructing waterskiing to Scouts in the program. May also assist with lifeguard duties.

Canoeing/Rowing Staff: Responsible for teaching paddle based activities to Scouts in the program. May also assist with lifeguard duties (strong swimming ability required).

From the LeadershipWe encourage our staff to expect quality at all times and to recognize the impact they have on the boys we serve. We treat each week the same and strive to make every effort possible to make each of our camps special for the boys. From the time they enter camp till the time they leave, customer service is our number one goal at all times.

All staff are required to be registered through the Boy Scouts of America and undergo a background check to ensure the safety of all staff and campers while at camp. Staff have many opportunitys to grow as leaders and help build their professional portfolios.

Time RequirementsEach of our council camps starts and ends at a different time to fit the needs of our Scouts. Dates are subject to change and you will be given more specific information upon being hired. Staff are released every Saturday by 12:00 for a 24 hour off period.

Cub Country Dates: July 3 - Aug 10 (Staff only work partial weeks)Camp Easton Dates: June 19 - August 14Camp Grizzly Dates: June 19 - Aug 7**No camp during the week of the 4th of july

Pay Scale / BenefitsInland Northwest Council Camps provide room and board in addition to salary. Staff receive 24 hours off from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday. College Scholarship InformationThe Inland Northwest Council Camp Staff Scholarship was established to reward those camp staff members that stand out among their peers as exceptional examples of character, leadership, citizenship and performance on camp staff. Scholarships will be given annually to selected registered members of the Boy Scouts of America, who meet all requirements. Visit nwscouts.org/summercampstaff for more information.

Application ProcessIf you would like to be a part of the tradition and help bring to life the magic of one of our council camps, please follow the steps outlined below.

1) Find the application at nwscouts.org/summercampstaff2) Fill out the camp application completely and correctly3) Mail, email, or drop off your application to the Boy Scouts of America Inland Northwest Council office:

4) Schedule an Interview • Remember to wear your Scout uniform or dress to impress • Be ontime or a few minutes early • Be honest and show your true personality

5) If selected as a camp staff fill out your hire packet and turn it into the Inland Northwest Council office
