Long established bakery

The Lahdelman Leipomo bakery was established by Sulo Lahdelma in 1919 in Tampere. The bakery had retail shops and cafes in many locations around the town making its products well-known to residents of Tampere. The bakery was owned by the same family until recent times, for the past year it has been under new ownership.

The bakery no longer has any retail shops of its own. Instead it specialises mainly in cakes and confectionery for the business to business market. It also supplies two big departments store chains in Finland and a new retail shop/cafe is under consideration. At the moment the company employes about 20 people.

Accumulation of enterprise cultural heritage

A lot of enterprise cultural heritage (ECH) has been accumulated during the nearly one hundred years of the bakery’s life.

There are old photographs, books of recipes, old certificates of mastership – and of course traditional products as well as their names and production methods still around from the past. But they are not used very effectively in today’s business.

Highlighting experience and good reputation

”The representative of the project contacted me at a good moment. We are about to start a project that aims to re-design our graphic instructions as well as our website. I have been thinking the ways to highlight our experience and good reputation more effectively, and making the history and the past more evident to the consumers serves that purpose well”

Tapio Rajala, CEO Lahdelman Leipomo.

Relevant training materials

After a short introduction to the ECH training materials, the importance of the topic becomes even more apparent to Mr. Rajala . The company believes that the most relevant modules to the company are brand management, change management and heritage management, in that order.

Mr. Rajala sees the knowledge of the materials being needed both for marketing and HR.

There is also a handful of employees who will most probably be trained using the materials.
