General Information

We are pleased to announce that the IMLA 22 will take place at the Navigation

College of Jimei University, Xiamen, China on October 10th

-13th

, 2014. As one of the

prominent maritime education and training conference in the world, it will provide

scholars with an opportunity to share their latest academic achievements and develop

friendships in the field of maritime education and training.

The International Maritime Lecturers’ Association annual conference is a

no-border forum: a round table for discussions on sea-related issues. The aim of IMLA

is to promote contact and cooperation between Maritime Lecturers of all disciplines

and to develop a body of professional expertise. This aim still is attempted to be

fulfilled by all of us who face the challenges of educating and training the maritime

industry’s human resource and who wish to grasp the opportunities that an

international meeting offers.

Teachers, lecturers and all other interested parties from all over the world, who are

dedicated to inspire future seafarers, are invited to present their achievements, share

and discuss experiences and exchange ideas in papers, workshops, poster

presentations and other stimulating activities to be presented at IMLA 22 in Jimei,

China.

will be given priority. All practical suggestions concerning relevant class and

out-of-class activities as well as published and non-published materials/resources

presented in posters, as demonstrations or in exhibitions will be especially

appreciated.

Paper abstracts and/or relevant Workshop Activity proposals not exceeding 300

words addressing any of the topics mentioned above should be sent to before 08 June

2014. The following data should be included:

• title of the paper/activity

• name and position of the author

• name of institution/company

• e-mail, phone, fax, postal address

Further information on IMLA 22 will be forwarded to you in due course. The

Conference Secretariat will also be pleased to receive the post and email addresses of

colleagues or others whom you think might be interested in attending IMLA.

Manuscript Format

Paper size: A4

Manuscript: Papers should be written in English and word-processed with single line

spacing (except before or after each major heading), 8 to 10pages long including

figures, tables, bibliography and any other additional material.

Title: The title should be as succinct as possible.

Author‟s details: These should include initial(s), surname(s) and address(s) of the

author(s). Include the present address of any author if it differs from that where the

paper was prepared. Author‟s biographies should also be provided on a separate sheet.

The manuscript should be organized in the following generalized structure:

Figures, Tables

Only good quality figures and tables of sharp photo prints will be accepted. Figures

and tables should be numbered, have full descriptive captions and be mentioned in the

text.

Mathematical Equations and formulas

Mathematical equations should be typewritten. Subscripts and superscripts should be

clearly shown. A glossary of meanings should be provided for any symbols used in

formulae, which are not otherwise defined in the text of the manuscript. System

International (SI) units should be used at all times.

Spelling

Authors may use either American or English spelling, but not a combination of both.

Please be consistent with the spelling style that you choose.

Page numbers

Please do not paginate, page numbers will be assigned while compiling the

proceedings.

References

References should be indicated in the text by the Harvard (name and date) system.

The full list of references should be collected at the end of the paper in alphabetical

order. Listed references should include articles titles, journal titles & reports. The

initials of the authors should be placed after their family names followed by the year

of publication. Footnotes should be avoided, except in tables. Some examples are

Submission of an abstract or paper to this conference will be taken to imply that it

represents an original work and that it has not been previously published or

considered elsewhere for publication, and that, if accepted for publication, it will not

be published elsewhere in the same form. Papers will be peer reviewed by experts

appointed by the papers review committee and notification of acceptance of papers

given as per the schedule indicated earlier.

About Jimei University

Jimei University, located at beautiful coastal city Xiamen, one of the key

universities in Fujian Province, is a multi-disciplined university with students from all

over the country. The University enjoys a long history of over 90 years. Its origin can

be traced back to Jimei Normal School founded by the famous patriotic overseas

Chinese leader Mr. Chen Jiageng (Tan Kah Kee) in 1918.

Jimei University, one of the key universities in Fujian Province, is a

multi-disciplined university with students from all over the country.

With the strong educational strength and perfect conditions, Jimei University has

an integration of 20 colleges and offers 56 postgraduate programs, 2 course master’s

programs in 10 fields and 63 undergraduate programs in eight disciplines:

magazines in both Chinese and foreign languages. The library also owns a Digital

Information Retrieval Center.

About the City of Xiamen

Xiamen is a scenic port tourism city. Thanks to its picturesque scenery and

abundant foods, it is home to a large number of egrets. Hence the name "Egret Island".

Located in the south eastern coastal area of China, Xiamen is linked with Zhangzhou,

presenting the landscapes of the Golden Triangle in South Fujian, and faces Jinmen

across the sea. Xiamen has a subtropical maritime climate, and it is like spring all the

year round. With various kinds of beautiful flowers, a great number of egrets flying

leisurely and carefree, and some natural bathing grounds formed by undulating sand

beaches. Xiamen is an ideal holiday resort, a paradise for tourists.

Xiamen won the "Habitat Scroll of Honor Award," as well as the titles of the

"International Garden City," one of "China's First Group of Civilized Cities," "

National Model City for Environmental Protection" and the "National Sanitary City."

Its clean, tidy and sanitary environment, civilized and polite citizens and a natural and

beautiful environment have formed the city's harmonious, quiet and peaceful features

and atmosphere.

Xiamen has a great number of tourist attractions, such as Gulangyu Island, Wanshi

Mountain, South Putuo Temple, Hulishan Fort, Jimei University, Haicang Bridge,

Riyuegu Hot Springs Resort, Tongan Lotus Mountain National Forest Park, TV &

Film City, and Xiang'an Dadeng Battlefield Sightseeing Zone. Xiamen is the city

closest to Jinmen, where tourists can observe Jinmen at a short distance by yacht.

As a leisure, tourism and holiday resort, Xiamen contains not only lots of places

of scenic and cultural interest, but also various kinds of recreational centers, bars,

delicious seafood, snacks, restaurants and hotels, which can meet the demands of all

to the suburbs to take a hot spring bath, play golf on the green course, go to the

Gulang Islet Concert Hall to enjoy music, or go to the People's Theater to appreciate

various kinds of theatrical performances full of the cultural colors of South Fujian.
