Thank You to the Greeters Team by Bill Hetzler
We want to thank all of you who have been part of our Greeters Team. As you can probably tell, Pastor Dan is going to be pulling and pushing all of us along the path of Church growth. Hospitality is a BIG part of that effort! First, even if you are not “greeting officially”, we are all greeters - looking for that lost face in the crowd, looking for someone to greet and to welcome them. Second, if you have an assigned date to greet but cannot make it... please find your own replacement or at least call someone in the church office to let us know. We are all excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in 2011! We want to grow all the dimensions of FUMC-Jackson,Tennessee. Increasing our numbers is the job of EVERY MEMBER.

Along with the Sunday morning prayer ministry, we have designated the two evenings below for prayer events. Sunday, February 27 at 4:00 p.m. there will be a Prayer Committal Service. In this service, we will pray once again over all the prayer cards that have been turned in during 2010. Then, those cards will be burned.
Just a reminder: Each Sunday, please remember to fill out the prayer cards in the pews! They are there to be used and will be prayed over.
Sunday March 27 at 5:00 p.m. we will have a Service of Prayer and Healing. Come with your own concerns or bring a request for someone else.

Reviving Prayer Ministry by Joel Allen
Over the last several years, our prayer ministry has been waning. We pray in many different contexts and ways, but we don’t have a scheduled prayer ministry during our Sunday services as we once did. Our Prayer Ministry Team would like to revive our prayer efforts and emphasis. One way we wish to do this is through the re-organization of the team of people who pray during services. In the past, we’ve had designated persons praying in the chapel during Sunday morning services. Now, we have these designated prayers less than half the time. If you are willing to participate by taking a time slot, please contact Tammy McCoy, 437-0287 or [email protected]. She will organize the list of prayers with flexibility for your schedule. You may either choose to pray in the chapel (an hour of silent prayer can be a profound spiritual experience!), or be a ‘watchful prayer’; that is, praying right in the service in the sanctuary. So, you don’t necessarily have to miss services to participate. Homebound members can also participate as well. Please consider joining our prayer ministry at FUMC!
Giving Report Week Ending Offerings Given January 7 $23,465 January 14 $38,341 Total for January $61,806 January, 2010, giving total was $149,334. Please be in prayer for the Finance Committee as they work on balancing the 2011 budget. Pledges for 2011 are short of 2010 by $15,000. If you have not pledged, please contact the Financial Office today... Phyllis Maley, [email protected], or Charlene Barnett, [email protected], or call 422-4002.
Once a month, the Family Life Forum Sunday School class takes up a collection for the emergency food pantry at New Southern. Many of the residents struggle to make ends meet before their next paycheck. The groceries purchased help those folks who are out of money to have something to eat during those difficult days.
If you would also like to participate in this outreach, please make checks payable to First United Methodist Church and designate in the memo, “New Southern.” You may be assured that your tax deductible donation will be used entirely to help feed those in need at New Southern.
