five things you need to know for the sake of others
DESCRIPTION
How do we really help others? Over the years I have supported quite a few people who have had major mental illnesses and so I have learnt quite a few things along the way. This is a little promotion for an eBook I have written. EnjoyTRANSCRIPT

But really ...
They don’t know what
they don’t know
Some people s-care me
Here are 5 of them
Fundamentalist Fred. Fred comes alongside and doesn’t lighten the load but adds to it. He lays down the rules, the principles and tells the person to just try harder.

Super Spiritual Sally. Sally comes alongside with a big cheery smile on her face but ignores the reality of what the person is facing. She offers a few quick spiritual platitudes, tosses a ‘Praise the Lord’ here and there.

Rescuing Rachel. Rachel justloves to be needed. She comes alongside, takes the burden off the other person and makes it her own. Isn’t she just so caring! She continues to carry and rescue without wisdom.Caring does not mean carrying.
Program Pete. Pete has the answer. He has a course, he has a book, and he has a lecture to give. Pete comes alongside and informs. He takes people to the course, he provides the information and says- just go and do it!

Superficial Sarah.
Let’s keep things light, on the surface. If you’re smiling, Sarah will smile with you; if you’re not, she won’t know what to do. Sarah is hesitant to talk about anything that might be difficult.

I wanted to add lots of quotes and pictures

Then the reviews appeared on Amazon
This attractively presented book on caring for and supporting others is a useful and practical resource for individuals and for groups wanting to learn more about pastoral care.
I would highly recommend this book. Gary Corbett
In short, practical pages, enlivened by anecdote and observation, Barry offers five simple lessons to help us help others.
Putting even half of what he offers into action will prevent me from being an ‘Unguided Pastoral Missile’, and by using all of it all the time, all of us can become much more effective. Carolyn
The Unguided Pastoral Missile, "Five things you need to know for the sake of others," is amazingly well-structured, thoroughly considered, doable, and non-overwhelming; it's not a sentence longer than it needs to be.
Everything about the entire book is small, manageable, and inspiring.
