GeneralFlanders Precisionaire HD Industrial Grade filtersare designed for use in any application where dis-posable panel filters are recommended. They canbe relied upon for superior performance since theyare specifically designed for heavy workloads. Awide range of standard face sizes is available, plusnearly any special size.

ConstructionFlanders Precisionaire HD Industrial Grade filtersare designed with a one-piece moisture-resistantchipboard frame enclosing media. Standard framesare nominal 1 inch thick (3/4 inch actual) and nomi-nal 2 inches thick (1-5/8 inches actual).

The fiberglass media filter consists of continuous-filament fibers bonded together with thermo-settingresin. The synthetic media filter consists of polys-trand.

Support grilles of perforated corrosion resistantsteel or expanded metal are provided on both sidesof the filter. The media pads and support grilles arecontinuously glued to the inside perimeter of theframe, resulting in exceptional strength and rigid-ity. This design virtually eliminates the possibility ofmedia sag within the frame.

Standard Sizes Performance Data - HD Industrial Grade

Typical initial (clean) pressure drop at nominal cfm is 0.07 in. w.g. for 1 in. filters and 0.10 in. w.g. for 2 in. filters.Recommended final resistance is 0.50 in. w.g., but the system design may dictate a lower change out point.

1.0 General

1.1 Disposable filters shall be Model HD IndustrialGrade filters as manufactured by FlandersPrecisionaire.

1.2 Filters shall be UL 900 Class 2 listed.

2.0 Filter Construction

2.1 Filters shall be constructed of fiberglass or syn-thetic media (as specified) enclosed in a one-piece chipboard frame.

2.2 Perforated corrosion resistant steel or expandedmetal support grilles shall be furnished on bothentry and exit sides of the filter.

2.3 Media and grilles shall be continuously glued tothe inside perimeter of the frame.

3.0 Performance

3.1 The manufacturer shall guarantee performanceas stated in its literature within tolerances as out-lined in Section 7.4 of ARI Standard 850.

EZ Flow & EZ Flow IIDisposable Air Filters

GeneralEZ Flow and EZ Flow II disposable filters aredesigned for protection of furnace and central airunits in residential and light commercial applica-tions. Construction of both models is identicalexcept for the media retainer. The EZ Flow fea-tures a metal media retainer on the downstreamside while the EZ Flow II has no media retainer.Instead, the media itself is adhered directly to theframe for non-metallic applications.

ConstructionThe frame is made from heavy chipboard in aone-piece design that eliminates corner separa-tion.

The filtering media is continuous filament spunglass. A resinous bonding agent provides rigidityand resistance to media compression.

MEDIA SUPPORT of the EZ Flow is providedby one metal retainer on the downstream side,either punched metal plate or expanded metal,depending on face size. The EZ Flow II is madeto function without a retainer, by adhering theframe directly to the media which has a light skinto make it self-retaining.

SEALING is accomplished with a resilient hot-melt adhesive running the full perimeter of the

frame on both upstream and downstream sides.UL MARKING appears on the filter frame.These filters have been tested by UnderwritersLaboratories Inc. and are classified as UL 900Class 2 for flammability.

Sleeve PanelsSleeve Panels are nearly identical to the stan-dard Ring Panel. The only major difference inconstruction with the Sleeve Panel is that oneend is left unsealed. Therefore, the interior sup-port frame can be removed and used over andover again, with just the soiled media thrownaway. This is more economical and makes dis-posal easier.

Cubes

Cubes are internally supported filters similar to thePolyester Panel. The exception is greater surfacearea for contamination capture. Flanders-Precisionaire offers several choices forNESHAP ltration systems. These systems complywith EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) TestMethod 319 as it applies to the National EmissionsStandards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP).Reference 63 Fed. Reg. 59 (March 27, 1998) and 40C.F.R. 9, 63.

The EPA Test Method 319 is a testing protocol inwhich potassium chloride and oleic acid are substi-tuted for chromate paint. These chemical substancesattempt to simulate dry and wet overspray charac-teristics of the chromate paint. This testing protocolveri es that an air ltration system has met minimumef ciency requirements, under laboratory conditions,utilizing potassium chloride and oleic acid.

If a spraybooth existed before 1999, its ltration sys -tem must comply with the two stage standards, andif it was built after 1999, it must comply with the threestage standards. Tables 1 and 2 show the requiredcompliance ef ciency levels by micron size. Recentlegislation has shown that two or three stages arenot necessary as long as the nal stage has beencerti ed to comply with the minimum ef ciency levelsoutlined in the table above.

Recommended Change-Out Procedures

1. When the entire system is installed, obtain a static pressure reading for the clean system

2. Change out the rst stage when the static pressure rises a1.0 w.g. above the initial resistance.

3. Repeat this procedure until the static pressure remains at 1.0 w.g. even with a clean rst stage installed.At that time, replace the rst and second stage. If a three-stage system is used, continue replacingstage 1 and 2 until the third stage maintains a 1.0 w.g. reading with both clean rst and second stagesinstalled, then replace the entire system.

Initial pressure for a system can be estimated for an air ow velocity of 150 FPM by totalling the initialpressure drop for each stage. This data is available in the technical performance data in this catalog.

Kwik Kuts

These are 15x24 pads of filter media that can beeasily cut to fit any window or wall mounted roomair conditioner. They are offered in the same spunglass, foam and aluminum media described above.Also offered are 1/2 Permaire (see column atright) and plastic-backed foam.

Hammock Rolls and PadsFlanders hammock rolls are available in nominal 1spun glass, 2 spun glass, and 1 polyester synthet-ic fiber media. Performance data on all Flandershammock media is available upon request.

Service RollsFlanders Service Rolls air filtration media aremanufactured in selected widths, prepared in roll

Spun Glass: (Models SGxxxxKK) This is a rigid, nomi-nal 3/8 thick, dry spun glass. It is typically used tomake rigid pads for use in room unit air condition-ers. It is designed for use without a frame. Since itis untreated, it will not harm the plastic frequentlyused in the construction of room units.

Foam: (Models FRxxxxx) A rugged polyurethanefoam that is designed for use in room unit air con-ditioners and in pad-holding frames. It is washableand will withstand repeated cleaning with mild soapand water. Foam service rolls are available in 1/4,1/2, 1 and 2 media thicknesses. They are wash-able for repeat use.

Aluminum: (Models EAxx) The aluminum service rollis an expanded aluminum mesh of the type used inroom unit air conditioners. It is a nominal 1/4 thickdry filter media that requires the addition of a dustadhesive for effective filtration.

It is made of synthetic fibers and coatedwith a special resin, then baked together at a hightemperature. The result of this process is a toughand springy, thoroughly bonded, nearly rigid air

Describing Permaire as merely an air filtrationmedium is telling only half of the story. Due to itsnatural rigidity, a pad of Permaire cut to the properdimensions is actually a complete filter ready toinstall. It is totally self supporting. With nothingmore than Permaire and a hefty pair of scissors ora razor knife, you can replace almost any size 1/2,1 or 2 framed panel filter.

Permaire filters are passive electrostatic type prod-ucts. Air running over the maze of fibers createsan electrostatic charge to catch and hold airborne

contaminants. Dust particles may become chargednaturally, and if so, they are held by strong elec-trostatic forces to the oppositely charged fiber withwhich they come into contact. The smaller a par-ticle or fiber, the relatively stronger the electrostaticcharges will be attained. Dirt loads throughout thefilters depth and therefore it will hold a lot moredust than other filters before requiring changing orcleaning.

Permaire is an ideal product for filter service profes-sionals. With a roll of Permaire on your truck, youcan replace almost any size panel filter. Its a per-fect answer to odd size filters. A 10x32specialis as close as a pair of scissors...and the samelow cost as a 16x20 standard that you cut from thesame roll.

Flanders automatic roll replacements are furnishedwound on spools or cores, ready for installation with-out modification or adaptors. A core selection guide isprinted on the back of this sheet. Six-foot-long kraftpaper leaders and trailers are secured to the ends ofevery roll. Each roll contains 65 linear feet of filteringmedia in selected widths. Rolls are wrapped in heavyplastic and packed in cartons for shipment. The follow-ing media types are available:

GeneralThe MERV 7 Economy Pleated filter features afiltering medium that is more efficient and ecologi-cally friendly. Made entirely from recyclable materi-als, this medium achieves MERV 7 efficiency withlow resistance to airflow. It is also unaffected byhigh humidity and is hydrophobic (non-moistureabsorbing).

MERV 7 Economy Pleated filters can upgradeexisting flat panels as well as competitive MERV6 pleated filters currently being used with littleincrease in resistance. Filters are available in 1, 2and 4-inch depths. All MERV 7 Economy Pleatedfilters are 20-25% efficient by ASHRAE 52.1-92and MERV 7 per ASHRAE 52.2-99.

Economy Pleated filters are available in a widerange of sizes and will fit most commercial andindustrial installations with little or no system modi-fication. Fasteners are available to adapt the filterto existing filter banks.

Installation Considerations

Economy pleated filters are suitable as primary fil-ters and can be installed in PF-1, K-Trac FramingModules, Surepleat Side Access Housings andsimilar existing hardware. They may be usedas prefilters for Precision Pak, Super-Flow V,PrecisionCell and Rigid-Air filters in these framesystems and in Sureseal Side Access Housings.

1.0 General1.1 Medium efficiency filters shall be MERV 7 Economy Pleat

extended surface pleated filters manufactured by Flanders-Precisionaire.

1.2 Filter sizes and capacities shall be as scheduled on thedrawings.

2.0 Construction

2.1 Filters shall be constructed of reinforced, non-woven syn-thetic media made from recyclable plastic. Media shall belaminated to an expanded metal grid on the air leaving sideand formed into V-configuration pleats.

2.2 Frame shall be recyclable, moisture-resistant clay-coatedboard with diagonal and horizontal support members on theupstream and downstream sides, and shall have interlock-ing corner tabs.

3.0 Performance3.1 Initial and final resistances shall not exceed the scheduled

values.3.2 Media area must equal or exceed that of the specified filter.3.3 The average atmospheric dust spot efficiency shall be 20-

25% as determined by ASHRAE Standard 52.1-92 test meth -ods.

3.4 The manufacturer shall guarantee performance as stated inthe literature within tolerances as outlined in Section 7 of ARIStandard 850.

3.5 The filter shall be MERV 7 by ASHRAE Standard 52.2.4.0 Performance4.1 Manufacturer shall issue a standard certificate of compliance

certifying that the filter meets the materials, components, per-formance and construction characteristics stated herein.

1.0 General

1.1 Air filters shall be Model Pre Pleat 62RM11 panel fil-ters, as manufactured by Flanders Precisionaire.


2.1 Each filter shall consist of an electrostaticallycharged synthetic only media, with corrosion-

resistant expanded metal backing and moistureresistant enclosing frame. The filter shall be 1,2 or 4 nominal depth.The grid shall be 100%bonded to the media on the air exiting side toeliminate media vibration and pullaway.

GeneralThis pleated air filter is designed for applicationswhere a UL Class 1 fire rated filter is required andmetal frame filters are unsuitable because of dis-posal problems. The Pre Pleat Class 1 pleated airfilter has been tested by Underwriters Laboratories,Incorporated and found to meet the stringent per-formance characteristics of a Class 1 air filter forflammability, as outlined in Standard 900. Class1 air filter units are described as "Those that,when clean, do not contribute fuel when attackedby flame and emit only negligible amounts ofsmoke.

Construction

The filter consists of a nominal 50% dust spotefficiency micro-fine fiberglass filtration media thathas been bonded to a corrosion-resistant expand -ed metal backing, and then pleated into eitherstandard or high capacity packs. Up to 400FFlanders Pre Pleat HT filters are designed forincreased air filtration efficiencies in an operat-ing environment where temperatures reach 400degrees Fahrenheit Typical examples include airintakes for drying ovens or high temperature bakingapplications.

ConstructionThe Pre Pleat HT high temperature pleated air filterconsists of a nominal 50% dust spot efficiencymicro-fine fiberglass filtration media that has beenbonded to corrosion-resistant expanded metalbacking, then pleated into either standard or highcapacity packs.

Each pack is encased within a 24 gage corrosion-resistant metal frame with an expanded corrosion-

resistant metal face screen on the downstreamside to increase pack rigidity while preventingblowouts.

Flanders Pre Pleat HTpleated air filters are offeredin two inch depths in all of the most popular facesizes. They have been tested by UnderwritersLaboratories, Incorporated and found to meet thestringent performance characteristics of a Class1 air filter for flammability as outlined in Standard900.

1.0 General

1.1 High Temperature pleated filters shall be PrePleat HT as manufactured by Flanders.

1.2 Filter sizes and capacities shall be scheduled onthe drawings.

1.3 Filters shall be UL Class 1 listed and be able tooperate up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.


2.1 Filter media shall be manufactured of a high loftedmicro-fine media with a minimum efficiency of50% per ASHRAE Standard 52.1

2.2 An expanded metal wire grid shall be bonded tothe media to maintain pleat integrity.

2.3 The filter pack shall be enclosed within a cor-rosion-resistant frame and furnished with an

expanded metal facescreen on the downstream,air leaving side.

3.0 Performance

3.1 Initial and final resistance shall not exceed thefinal values.

3.2 Media efficiency and content must meet or exceedthe ratings of the specified filter.

3.3 The manufacturer shall guarantee performanceas stated in the literature within tolerances asoutlined in Section 7.4 of ARI Standard 850.

ConstructionModels 500AB, 600SG and replacement cartridgesfor selected Honeywell air cleaners are madewith a blend of polypropylene and polyethyleneelectrostatic filtration media which is adhered to anexpanded metal backing. This combination is deeppleated and encased in a moisture resistant kraftboard frame and offers a MERV 8 rating.Models 550AB and 650SG cartridges are similarto our industrial grade PrecisionCell II air filter,with perfectly spaced mini-pleats of wet laid glassmicrofiber media and a moisture resistant kraftboard frame. This provides high efficiency filtrationand a longer filter life and a MERV 10 rating.Model 650SG media inserts consist of the samemedia as the 550AB and 650SG cartridges but areprovided in a convenient, easy to store package.They are pleated to the proper depth with fastenerstrips secured to each outside pleat.

InstallationAir Bear replacements

Models 500AB and 550AB cartridges are designedfor use with the Trion Air Bear air cleaner hous-ings. Simply install in place of the Trion cartridge.No alterations or equipment are required.

Space Gards replacements

The Model 650 insert installs in Space Gard mod-els 2200 and 2250 air cleaner housings by usingthe existing pleat separators and media holdingassembly. An easy-to-follow assembly guide isprinted on the package back.Model 600SG and 650SG cartridges are alsodesigned for use in Space Gard models 2200 and2250 air cleaner housings. Designed to replace thetraditional collapsible media pack, Models 600SGand 650SG provide all of the benefits of the origi -nal, but with considerably less effort to install.

Honeywell replacements

The Honeywell replacement cartridges aredesigned for use in Honeywell models 203719,203720, 203721 and 203722. They offer the ben -

efit of superior performance and easy installation.

Model 500ABAir Cleaner Housing

GeneralThe Model 500AB air cleaner housing is designedfor use with the Model 500AB or 550AB cartridge inan HVAC system. Both of these cartridges featuredeep pleated media whose area is several timesthe face area of the housing.

With the advent of modern air tight buildings, manyof us spend our indoor hours in air that can literallymake us feel sick with the recirculation of dirt, dustpollen, animal dander, and other particulates. It isfor this reason that state-of-the-art air filtration isessential. Flanders Model 500AB air cleaners offer

a solution you can trust, backed by nearly 50 yearsof filtration manufacturing experience.

The non-woven media inserts capture a widerange of airborne particles as small as 1 micron(1/25,000 of an inch in diameter). These airborneparticles include grease and soot (5 microns), dust(10 microns), pollen and mold (100 microns) whichare commonly found in homes. This type of filtra-tion not only provides cleaner air but keeps theseparticles from building up on cooling and heatingequipment.

ConstructionThe Model 500AB air cleaner housing has a built-inprefilter track. Using a prefilter can greatly increasethe useful life of a high efficiency filter such as the500AB or 550AB cartridges. The Model 500AB aircleaner housing takes a standard 20 x 25 x 1 inchdisposable panel filter as a prefilter.

Super-Flow V lters are constructed of multipleminipleat panels bonded to ame-retardant plasticpanels on top and bottom to make an unusuallystrong assembly that is both corrosion and moistureresistant. Aerodynamic extruded vertical supportsminimize air entry turbulence. Super-Flow V ltersare totally rigid making them ideal for variable airvolume (VAV) systems, as well as applicationsdownstream of supply fans.

Low Pressure DropSuper-Flow V minipleat lters have an exceptionallylow clean pressure drop unmatched by most any

lter of the same ef ciency. This affords low fan

energy costs during much of the life of the ltersystem. In addition, they are the lters of choice forpackaged air conditioning systems that do not havethe fan capacity of larger central systems.

Longer service life means material and labor costsavings and less disruption of systems caused by

lter change-out shutdowns. High dust holdingcapacity is a key bene t of a lter with increasedmedia area.
