    Flesh Eating and Back-biting

One of the most filthy habits that man can develop within himself is back-biting(ghibah). Lots of people partake in this vice, but it is something particularly rifeon ''The Cult'' website. It is for this reason that I am compelled to pen something

down about it all. Anyone who has had the misfortune of visiting the ''Cult''website will have observed the pre-occupation of many of its users to flagrantlyinsult the present Ahmadi Caliph (ayyadahu Allahu ta'ala bi-nasrihi al-'aziz), hispredecessors (radi Allahu 'anhum) and Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad ('alayhi al-salam). This is directly against the Qur'anic admonishment:

''Woe to whoever disparages others behind their back or to their face'' (Q.104:1)

The traditional interpretations of this verse are quite similar. See, for example, the below tafsir entries of Ibn 'Abbas (radi Allahu 'anhu) and al-Tustari (rahmatAllah 'alayh):

''And from his narration on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that he said about theinterpretation of Allah's saying (Woe): '(Woe) severe punishment; and it is alsosaid that this refers to a valley in Gehenna which is full of blood and puss; and itis also said that it refers to a well in the Fire (unto every slandering) whobackbites people (traducer) and slanders and abuses them in their face.'' (TafsirIbn 'Abbas, 104:1)

''Woe to every backbiter (humaza), [who is] a slanderer (lumaza),Humaza meansa backbiter (mughtb), [a word which is used] when a person maligns someonein their absence; lumaza means a person who defames ( in), [that is] he

defames someone when he sees them. [The verse] was revealed with reference toal-Wlid b. al-Mughra.'' (Tafsir al-Tustari, 104:1)

The Prophet (sall Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was also quite clear about this matter. He (sall Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was reported to have said:

Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let them say the good or keepsilent.

    And:

"Do you know what backbiting is?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger knowbest." He said, "To mention your brother in a manner he dislikes." It was said,"What if my brother is as I say?" He said, "If he is as you said, you havebackbitten him. If he is not as you said, you have slandered him." (Muslim)

Another filthy aspect of ''The Cult Forum'' is that it is filled with disparaging andmocking remarks. Many posters mock the personal qualities and habits of mybeloved Caliph (ayyadahu Allahu ta'ala bi-nasrihi al-'aziz) and various

administrative members of Islam Ahmadiyya. It is as if they feel that thefacelessness of the internet will shelter them from their accountability to God.Our Lord, however, does have full awareness of what they write and has clearlystated in the Qur'an what our remit is in this regard:

''O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be thatthe (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: Itmay be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcasticto each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a nameconnoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those whodo not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.

O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in somecases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of youlike to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear Allah:For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.'' (Q.49,11-12)

Put simply, even if someone is right in holding that Islam Ahmadiyya is false, theywould be committing a major sin when back-biting and slandering others.Granted, there are instances in which back-biting is permissible, but I challengeanyone to show me ''idle mockery'' and ''belittling sarcasm'' in any books ofIslamic law as positive actions.

And so I ask all of you reading this post, ''Isn't it ironic that a group of people whoare trying to ward the world away from the ''Anti-Islam Ahmadis'' are attemptingto do so by adopting tactics which are wholly un-Islamic, namely back-biting?'' Iwould have no problem with them attacking Islam Ahmadiyya purely ontheological and doctrinal grounds, but to engage so ferociously in a practice

which was looked down upon so much by our beloved Prophet (Sall Allahu 'alayhiwa sallam) is reprehensible. I should add an important caveat to what I have saidabove. I have a few non-Ahmadi Muslim friends and they are each decent, God-fearing Muslims who would never engage in these kinds of bad habits. And so Imust conclude, with rose-tinted glasses and ''Husn al-Zan'', that the people on the''Cult'' do not represent the ordinary non-Ahmadi Muslim on the street whowould surely look down upon such flagrant ''Ghibah'' - wouldn't he/she?

The bottom line, literally, is this - you all know that although it might feel good ona base level, these kinds of crude attacks are outright wrong!
