Why Have and Athletic Handbook?
The Warrior Way - Volume 1, No. 7
hope that we can help parents help students make good decisions by giving them rules and knowing the consequences if they make the decision not to follow our rules. We also know that we can't catch every student athlete who violates our school rules. Following the chain of command is also important for athletes and their parents. If questions arise, athletes should first go to their coach. If not resolved, then parents can schedule a meeting with the coach. If the issues are still not resolved, then the family can schedule a meeting with the athletic director, followed by the principal on up to the Superintendent. Please do not run straight to the School Board as they will likely redirect you back to the coach. Most coaches are also not going to discuss playing time or other students if that is the issue. You can also find in our handbook suggestions and information on preparing to try and be eligible to play sports in college. Taking online courses is not a good idea if you plan to play D1 or D2 as the clearing house may not accept those courses. Of course, the handbook also serves as a risk awareness statement for athletes and parents with the understanding that playing sports has inherent risks and the school and coaches are not liable for any issue that may arise. We as a school and coaches, always do what we can to reduce those risks. Our number 1 goal is to provide students with a great, safe experience.Go Warriors!
Why does Whiteland Community HS, along with just about every other high school, have a student athlete handbook? It is filled with everything from eligibility rules from the IHSAA to lettering requirements, to drug testing, to code of conduct, to awards, to equipment damage, to chain of command. Ours is 17 pages long and parents and students must sign before being permitted to play sports at Whiteland. Our handbook is loaded with important information to help parents navigate through the IHSAA rules, our school's rules, and the punishment if you violate those rules. For instance, it spells out what the penalty is if you get arrested or test positive during our random drug tests. Many have questioned why we have a relatively light penalty for first offense (20%). We, as a corporation, believe young adults do make mistakes and learn from those mistakes. Our 2nd and 3rd offenses are much more severe. We

WHITELAND WARRIOR FOOTBALL
FRESHMEN SPRING PRACTICE CAMP 2016
To Warrior Freshmen Football Players and Parents
Our best classes that have come through our football program over the past 11 years have had one thing in common:
·They have gotten involved early with our training/preseason program at the High School.
This early involvement process involves learning the fundamentals, routines, expectations and techniques that will allow them to be successful in 3 areas:
·Warrior Position Skill Development Program·Warrior Group and Team Scheme Development·Warrior Strength & Speed Development Program
Exposure to these important areas in a small group setting is what will be emphasized at the WHITELAND FOOTBALL FRESHMEN SPRING PRACTICE CAMP 2016. We want to get a head start on improvement for the coming 2015 season.
Athletes will participate in a week of preseason practice (outdoor / indoor) instructed by the Whiteland High School Football and Strength Coaching Staffs. To maximize our week we need to have the entire team in attendance. All students entering grade 9 interested in playing Whiteland High School Football next fall are welcome.
Your son and his classmates have shown they have the potential to be a special group with the ability to achieve great things on the football field. The WHITELAND FOOTBALL FRESHMEN SPRING PRACTICE CAMP will give him a chance to get to know the coaches, become a better football player and get a feel for what being a member of the WHITELAND FOOTBALL FAMILY is all about so he can excel.

Conference Championships and ultimately state wide prominence.
There are three levels of support: $25 or more “Varsity Club”, $100 or more “All-Conference or $500 or more “All
World”.

To Warrior Football Parents
It is vitally important to develop the proper fundamentals early in an athlete's career. The teaching of these important skills is what will be emphasized at the WHITELAND FOOTBALL SPRING PRACTICE CAMP 2016. We want to get a head start on improvement for the coming 2016 season.
We provide indoor and/or outdoor instruction specific to each position on the football field supervised by the Whiteland High School Coaching Staff. We will teach the fundamentals of Blocking and Tackling using shields and
th th thbags. All students current grades 5 , 6 and 7 are welcome.
Athletes will learn the position fundamentals and skills of the Warrior Offensive & Defensive Systems that he will perform this upcoming season. Your son and his classmates are a special group with the ability to achieve great things on the football field. The WHITELAND FOOTBALL SPRING PRACTICE CAMP will give him a chance to get a feel for what being a member of the WHITELAND FOOTBALL FAMILY is all about so he can excel this coming season.
