Refurbishment of Project Flex-i was completed in 23 days with a budget of 47.000$ for Bahcesehir University (BAU) in Istanbul on a 250 square meters venue. The existing venue was not study efficient. The venue was not bright enough, had not enough plug access points, the study units (including tables, chairs and lights) were not study friendly, and it had no common areas for the students to work collaboratively. After observing these deficiencies, I decided to create a concept that would allow the students to work collaboratively by furnishing the venue with sever- al group seating units, mounting walls that you can write on, inserting plug access points on walls and on the floor and staging different study areas as I believe every student learns differently hence needs different study environments. The venue was named Flex-i and was visited by many students through out the academic year. Especially during the month of final examinations. The students were able to study comfortably and collaboratively. Extra access points were efficiently used. Some students wrote their case studies or equations on the wall, while some chose to sit on soft seating units as if they were studying home. All furniture were either on wheels or very light-weighted, so much that a student alone could lift it and move it around in the venue as he/she pleased. This allowed them to use the space freely and move to any of the work station corner they wish.

Refurbishment of Project Flex-i was completed in 23 days with a budget of 47.000$ for Bahcesehir University (BAU) in Istanbul on a 250 square meters

venue.

The existing venue was not study efficient. The venue was not bright enough, had not enough plug access points, the study units (including tables, chairs

and lights) were not study friendly, and it had no common areas for the students to work collaboratively.

After observing these deficiencies, I decided to create a concept that would allow the students to work collaboratively by furnishing the venue with sever-

al group seating units, mounting walls that you can write on, inserting plug access points on walls and on the floor and staging different study areas as I

believe every student learns differently hence needs different study environments. The venue was named Flex-i and was visited by many students through

out the academic year. Especially during the month of final examinations.

The students were able to study comfortably and collaboratively. Extra access points were efficiently used. Some students wrote their case studies or

equations on the wall, while some chose to sit on soft seating units as if they were studying home.

All furniture were either on wheels or very light-weighted, so much that a student alone could lift it and move it around in the venue as he/she pleased.

This allowed them to use the space freely and move to any of the work station corner they wish.
