Planning for death and dying is something most people put off thinking about: “It’s not for me. I can’t possibly ever, ever die. It’s not my karma. I’m too young. I drive carefully. I give to my local church so I’m in good graces….” The list is infinite. While many of us like to think we’re immortal, it is important that you have a plan in place in the unlikely event of your death. Who will agree to look after your companion animals? If he/she would be unable do it, who would be the back-up person? Will you leave enough money for their care? A majority of Americans will die without a written will. Even if you have a will, it will be subject to probate, proving it is authentic and valid. Typical probate costs can be $3,000 or more, plus 3% of the estate. A revocable trust allows your assets to go to your beneficiaries upon your death according to your wishes, without going through probate. You can create a revocable trust using two easy-to-use software programs. Two of them are: Suze Orman www.suzeormanwillandtrust.com and Nolo Trustmaker www.nolo.com Having a plan in place will bring you peace of mind, and provide guidance for friends and family members you leave behind. When making your end-of-life decisions, please keep Florida Voices for Animals (FVA) in mind as a beneficiary.

OrcaMobile

Since I was a teenager, I realized the needless cruelty of keeping whales confined concrete swimming pools. I would speak to friends & family about how intelligent and self-aware whales are, and also about the greed and unkindness of SeaWorld keeping them for profit in an unnatural world. It was not until three years ago when I moved to Florida to live that I started doing something pro-active for these beautiful, huge, majestic creatures. I attended my first SeaWorld, Orlando protest with a home made sign and instantly met fellow compassionate, intelligent people on the same wavelength as myself, who wanted an end to the nonsense of whales in captivity. I saw Orlando veterinarian Randall Cannon driving around the entrance of SeaWorld in his video truck playing excerpts from the movie 'Blackfish' , urging people not enter SeaWorld where Orcas are kept confined. I knew in that moment I could use my collection of unusual cars to promote the Orcas cause. Over the last three years my Dodge Viper, Lamborghini Murcielago & Bentley have all received Blackfish graphics & signage telling people it is cruel, inhumane & antiquated to keep whales in swimming pools. However my daily driver has seen the most miles travelled. An ex-police interceptor Crown Victoria

complete with graphics & a fiber glass Orca inside a cage on the roof is known amongst my friends as the 'Orcamobile'. I have driven the Orcamobile from my home in Hudson, Florida up to the March for

Marineland, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada where Orca Kiska is held in solitary. I have also attended protests at Miami Seaquarium where Orca Lolita captured off the Washington coast in 1970 is held as a solitary Orca in north America`s smallest swimming pool. Her companion Orca Hugo committed suicide in 1980 by ramming his head against the concrete walls of the swimming pool at Miami Seaquarium. This year I drove the Orcamobile across America 7788 miles to the SuperPod event on San Juan Island off the coast of Washington state for a huge meet up. There were talks and work shops for scientists, marine biologists and regular people all wanting an end to whale captivity. This epic trip took me a month to drive. As the Orcamobile does not go very fast with an Orca on the roof, I was passed by thousands of vehicles who saw and read my message which is simply common sense & kindness - 'END WHALE CAPTIVITY.' Victory for Greyhounds!

Seminole County Board of Commissioners approved the Greyhound Protection Act on August 9, 2016. It takes effect on March 1, 2017, and will: • Ensure that greyhound injuries at Sanford Orlando Kennel Club are reported to the public • Require greyhound trainers to provide information on the fate of greyhounds that leave the track. • Eliminate a special interest loophole that exempts racing greyhounds from County animal licensing and

inspection laws. This is the direct result of an all-volunteer grassroots campaign that collected signatures from more than 14,000 local voters.

California: First State to Ban Breeding of Captive Orcas!

In mid-September 2016, California became the first state to ban the breeding of captive orcas. This new law will protect future generations from the deprivation, stress, and frustration of being trapped inside a tiny concrete tank. Thanks to the dedication of Assembly member Richard Bloom, who introduced the California Orca Protection Act, state legislators and the public became aware of how orcas suffer, are forced to perform silly tricks, and die prematurely in captivity. Gov. Jerry Brown signed this important bill into law. The California Orca Protection Act prevents marine parks in California from breeding orcas for captivity. It also ensures that SeaWorld can't back out from stopping its deplorable orca-breeding program. SeaWorld's CEO admitted the company stopped breeding orcas because "the data and trends showed it was either a SeaWorld without whales or a world without SeaWorld" FVA is committed to get a similar bill passed in Florida. We encourage every person who wants to be a champion for animals to attend protests in Florida. A Sea World Demo in Orlando takes place most Sundays 10a-12p (see FVA Meetup) Bring friends, carpool, and make your voices heard! Until all the tanks are empty!

In Florida, with few exceptions it is unlawful to release within a 24 hour period 10 or more balloons inflated with a gas that is lighter than air. Doing so can incur a $250 fine. If you are planning a balloon release for a special occasion, please realize this can have deadly consequences for the environment and animals.
