Engine oil levelYou can view the oil level on the instrument panel: when the message “test of control system” ap-pears on the instrument panel, press either button 4 or 5. The oil level is temporarily displayed on the instrument panel.

You must observe the service intervals and the standards governing the oils tested for your engine. Refer to the Maintenance Service docu-ment for your vehicle, and to Section 4 of the ve-hicle handbook for the precautions to take when filling with oil.

Coolant levelThe level indicated on tank 2 should be between the “MINI" and "MAXI" markings.If it is necessary to top up this level, it is essential to do so when the engine is cold.

Screen washer fluid levelAdd some fluid to reservoir 3 if necessary.Note: depending on the vehicle, to find out the fluid level, open the cap and pull out the dipstick.

Opening the bonnet

To open, pull handle 1, pull on the bonnet handle then lift it. Secure the bonnet with the stay.

Closing the bonnetCheck that nothing has been left in the engine compartment.To close the bonnet again, hold the bonnet in the middle and guide it until it locks properly.Check that the bonnet is locked.

Deactivating the front passenger air bag

If you wish to fit a rear-facing child seat on the front passenger seat, you must deactivate the air bag: with the vehicle stationary, turn switch 1 to OFF.

The ¹ indicator light comes on, lit orange, on the central display 2.

Immediately reposition the switch to ON as soon as you stop using the child seat.

Activation of the front passenger air bag

You should reactivate the air bag as soon as you remove the child seat from the front passenger seat to ensure the protection of the front passenger in the event of an impact.

To reactivate the air bag: when the vehicle is sta-tionary, push and turn lock 1 to the ON position.With the ignition on, you must check that the warn-

ing light ¹ is lit up on central display 2.

Folding the seatback down

Press handle 1 on the seatback to be folded down or, depending on the vehicle, press the two han-dles 1 on each side of the seatback at the same time.Note: to obtain a flat floor, lower the headrests, and fold the seat base then the seatback.

To return the seatback to its initial position, check that the seat belts are in the correct position and lift the seatback. Check that it is correctly locked.

ISOFIX systemEach rear side seat is fitted with the ISOFIX child seat mounting system.Depending on the type of child seat used, installa-tion requires specific precautions.

The two rings 2 are located between the seatback and the seat base of the seat and are identified by a marking on the seatback. To ensure your child seat can be easily fitted and locked on rings 2, use access guides 3 on the child seat.Consult your RENAULT Dealer to find out about the equipment available for your vehicle.

Child safety

Ç Vehicle with switch 4Press switch 4 to authorise opening of the rear doors. If the vehicle is equipped with electric rear windows, this action will also authorise their use.

The indicator light in the switch lights up to con-firm that the locks have been activated.

Parking distance control

On equipped vehicles, the parking distance control “measures” the distance between the rear of the vehicle and any obstacles nearby.

When approaching an obstacle during manoeuvres, the beeps become faster and then sound continu-ously when the vehicle is 25 cm from the obstacle.

You can temporarily deactivate the system using switch 1 located on the dashboard (depending on the vehicle), or permanently, via the vehicle set-tings customisation menu, which can be accessed using stalk 3 (refer to your driver’s handbook).

– When driving, when the low fuel level warning

light L comes on, fill the tank as soon as possible.

After the warning light comes on, you have approx-imately 30 miles (50 km) left, driving at moder-ate speed.

The fuel tank capacity is approximately 59 litres.

Emergency spare wheel

An emergency spare wheel 6 is provided in case of a puncture. To access it, lift the luggage compart-ment carpet.Refer to Section 5 of your driver’s handbook.

Fuel tank

Your vehicle is fitted with a flap and a cap.

– Unlock the flap: – vehicle with switch 2, press the switch; – vehicle without switch 2, press the door un-

locking button on the remote control.– Open cover 5.– Open cap 4, then insert the filler nozzle.

Note: If the flap does not open, ensure that the vehicle is unlocked.

Accessing the vehicle

HANDS-FREE RENAULT CARD VERSIONHaving the card on you (you can leave it in your pocket or bag) will enable:– automatic unlocking by pulling a door handle;– automatic locking when leaving the vehicle (a

beep sounds) or intentional locking by pressing the button on the driver’s door handle.

Note: if required, you can use the manual mode or built-in key 2. To release the key, press button 3.

Special features– The detection zone of the card, necessary for

locking and unlocking the vehicle, depends on the surrounding environment or the location of the card;

– … for vehicles equipped with deadlocking, two successive presses on this button stop the vehicle from being opened, even from the inside and, depending on the vehicle, the windows are closed.

REmOTE CONTROL/kEy VERSION

Special note on the switchblade keyTo release the key, press button 1. It is released from the unit. To return it, push it into its housing.

ALL VERSIONSIn all situations:– Two flashes of the direction indicator lights con-

firm locking;– one flash of the direction indicator lights con-

firms unlocking.

After locking/unlocking the vehicle or the lug-gage compartment only using the buttons on the RENAULT card, remote locking and unlocking in hands-free mode are deactivated.

To reactivate the hands-free mode: restart the vehicle.

Never leave the remote control or the RENAULT card inside the vehicle.

– select the line, hold down button 1 or 2 to modify the function.

To exit the menu:– press 1 once or more to select “Back” or “Exit”;– press and hold 1 to confirm;– repeat the operation if necessary.

FOLDING DOOR mIRRORS

Switch 5 in central position: the door mirrors will fold back automatically when the vehicle is locked. They will fold out when the ignition is next switched on.

Depending on the vehicle, to force the door mirrors to fold back or out, position switch 5 to b or C re- spectively. Automatic mode is then deactivated.

To reactivate it: position the switch 5 in the cen- tral position.

Headrest

RAISING THE HEADREST

Pull the headrest upwards to the desired height.

LOwERING THE HEADREST(depending on the vehicle)

Press button 1 and guide the headrest down to the desired height.

ADjUSTING THE ANGLE(depending on the vehicle)

Depending on the vehicle, move section A towards or away from you to the required position.

Seat belt

Press button 2 and simultaneously adjust the seat belt to the required height.

This function lets you know the best time to change gear so as to optimise fuel consumption.

If the message “Service vehicle” is then displayed, you must arrange for the vehicle to be serviced as soon as possible.

Lighting control ATurn the ring 1 to:

u switch on the side lights;

k switch on the dipped beam headlights;

Headlight flash: pull the stalk towards you;

main beam headlights: ring 1 in position k, pull the stalk beyond the point of resistance;

AUTO: activate the automatic headlights (depend-ing on the vehicle).

Turn ring 2 upwards and then release it to:

g switch on the front fog lights.

Turn ring 2 downwards and then release it to:

f switch on the rear fog light.

To switch them off, repeat the operation.

WipingStalk b in position:– 0: park;– AUTO: intermittent wiping or, depending on the

vehicle, automatic wiping; Note: ring 3 can be used to adjust the sensitiv-

ity of automatic wiping, from minimum sensitiv-ity (C) to maximum sensitivity (D).

– 1: normal wiping speed;– 2: fast wiping speed or maintenance position

(engine switched off).

LISTENING TO THE RADIO OR A CDPress A briefly to switch your audio system on or off. Press b or F to select the source (FM radio or CD).

RADIO SOURCETo select a radio station, press C repeatedly to select a waveband.To select your frequency manually, press D repeat-edly or press and hold it.

To obtain optimal radio reception and avoid air noise, the aerial should be adjusted so that its end is approximately 28 cm from the vehicle’s roof.

CD SOURCEInsert a CD in the player: the CD will play auto-matically.

AUxILIARy INPUTAuxiliary socket E (AUX) on the front panel enables you to connect your portable audio player.

For special notes on your system, refer to the handbook for the equipment.

Press A to switch the system on or off. Select the desired source by pressing one of the keys b once or several times.If you wish to listen to an AUXILIARY source, connect your portable audio player to the desired socket (refer to the “Dashboard” section).

To update the list of stations, press C then F, or turn H to select the option “Update FM List", and confirm by pressing E or H.

To select a radio station from an alphabetical list, press D to go to station name field 1, then turn H or press F several times to scroll through the list of radio stations.

To save a station to one of the keys numbered 1 to 6, select a radio station and press one of keys 1 to 6 until you hear a beep.

To recall a stored station, press the correspond-ing button.

To save up to 12 FM stations, select a radio station, press G and use F or turn H to select a location from 1 to 12. Confirm by pressing E or H.

To recall a stored station, press the buttons D to move horizontally to the station number 2 by pressing D, then scroll through the radio stations using F or H.

In order to use a Bluetooth® device, either a tel-ephone or portable audio player (depending on the vehicle), from your multimedia system, please follow the instructions below.

Pairing a bluetooth® device

PRINCIPLE

Pairing will enable the multimedia system to rec-ognise and store your Bluetooth® device. This is the first step to carry out in order to use your tel-ephone or portable audio player.

Note: you can pair several devices to your multi-media system, but only one device can be used at a time (a single telephone or a single portable audio player).

PAIRING STEPS

Pairing is carried out directly on your device (refer to its user instructions):

– check that your multimedia system and your Bluetooth® device are on;

– activate the Bluetooth® connection on your device;

– in the multimedia system settings menu, select the field which allows you to store or pair a Bluetooth® device;

– launch a search for Bluetooth® equipment from your device;

– select “My-Radiosat” or “MY-CAR” from the list of devices found;

– enter the pairing code using your device’s keypad (it will appear on the multimedia system screen, otherwise refer to the user instructions for the system).

The device is paired.

Connecting a bluetooth® device

Your Bluetooth® device must be connected to the multimedia system for all its functions to be ac-cessible. To connect your device, select it from the list of de-vices stored in the multimedia system. The multimedia system may also automatically rec-ognise your device once it is switched on.

Using a bluetooth® device

With your Bluetooth® device connected, you can use some functions directly via the controls on your audio system.

You can also:– for a portable audio system: select a music track

or an album…;– for a telephone: display the telephone address

book, call a contact from the telephone address book, update the telephone address book…

Heating and air conditioning system

Automatic climate control AWith the engine running, to benefit from the auto-matic climate control, select one of the three auto-matic programmes:– AUTO: regular temperature regulation mode;– SOFT: quietest temperature regulation mode;– FAST: ventilation mode (recommended for the

rear seats).Then, choose the temperatures using levers 1 and 2.Note: you can exit automatic mode by pressing any of the other buttons.

“CLEAR VIEw” FUNCTION (DEmISTING)Press button 5. To exit the function, press button 5 again.

AIR CONDITIONINGButton 3 is used to deactivate the air condition-ing (integrated indicator lights up and “AC OFF” is shown on the display 4).

AIR RECIRCULATIONThis is switched on when certain automatic con-trols are used. It can also be activated manually by pressing 6.

When using your vehicle, adopt an economical driving style. These driving guide-lines will help you to con-sume less fuel.

Six pieces of everyday practical advice for fuel sav-ings of 10% to 20%.

1 ADAPT THE GEAR CHANGES

– Change up a gear from 2000 rpm in Diesel ve-hicles and 2400 rpm in Petrol vehicles;

– change down a gear from 1000 rpm;

– at a stable speed or for gentle acceleration, use the top gear.

5 USE THE ENGINE CONSCIENTIOUSLy

– Switch off the engine if stopped for more than 30 seconds;

– do not run the engine at idle speed (to raise the temperature) before driving, even in winter.

6 OPTImISE yOUR USE OF THE VEHICLE

– Use the heating and air conditioning system only when necessary:

– limit the difference between the interior and ex-terior temperature to 5°C;

– check the tyre pressures every month;

– do not leave unnecessary loads in the vehicle.

2 DRIVE FLExIbLy

– Anticipate the traffic conditions so as to use engine braking more than the brake pedal;

– above 30 mph (50 km/h), maintain a steady speed.

3 CONTROL ACCELERATION AND SPEED

– Up to 30 mph (50 km/h), accelerate so that 5th can be quickly reached;

– beyond 30 mph (50 km/h), accelerate moder-ately and limit the speed.

4 mANAGE UPHILL AND DOwNHILL SECTIONS

– When driving downhill, maintain the driving speed;

– when driving uphill, slow down without affect-ing the traffic flow.
