Task 2 – Play https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/mental-maths-train

Choose one of the four operations and complete as many of the following as you can. Addition- 2 digit and 2 digitSubtraction- up to 100 2 digits with decompositionMultiplication- choose one of the mixed tables. If you are feeling confident choose up to x12Division- choose one of the mixed tables. If you are feeling confident choose up to x12

Literacy – Plan a poem to performhttps://clpe.org.uk/poetryline/poems/please-mrs-butler- Read this poem, Please Mrs Butler.

What happens in this poem? Who are the voices in the poem? What emotions does the child in the poem feel and how do they change throughout the poem? What emotions does Mrs Butler feel and how do they change throughout the poem? What features are used in this poem? Where are the rhymes in the poem?

Today you are going to plan your own poem based on ‘Please Mrs Butler’. Get a piece of paper and draw a line vertically down the middle to split the page in half. On the left hand side, make notes about what Derek Drew might have done – you can change the name but consider the alliteration. Think about the types of things you might complain about in the classroom. You need a minimum of three. On the right hand side, write the teacher’s response. You need four responses for each complaint. Try to make suggestion two and four rhyme each time.

Example

Complaints Mrs Collins/ Miss Sprott’s responsePlease Mrs ButlerThis boy Derek Drew Keeps _______________________missWhat shall I do?-Pulling my hair - move away from him

Well- being- Mental health

It is important to spend some time completing activities that you enjoy and also trying out new things. Below is a suggestion of two fun activities that you could do. Why not choose from one and give it a go? If you don’t like the sound of either of these, think of something fun and different for yourself to do and spend some time doing this.

When a person goes on a religious journey to somewhere that is special to their religion it is called a pilgrimage. Use the notes that you created yesterday and this video about a pilgrimage to the River Ganges to write a post card.

Literacy – propose changes to vocabulary

The small man walked down the big lane because he was board.

What is wrong with this sentence? It is boring. Task 1Rewrite sentences using more interesting verbs, adverbs and adjectives.

ExampleThe small man walked down the big lane because he was bored. The minute gentleman meandered down the colossal lane because he was bored. Could you include an adverb too?The minute gentleman meandered aimlessly down the colossal lane because he was bored.

Rewrite these sentences using a thesaurus to help you. https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/search?s=t

1) Although the playground was busy, the little girl felt lonely. 2) On the high branches, stood a brown bird. 3) The clouds were in the dark sky. 4) The sad baby cried because he was hungry. 5) The young boy slept through the night as he was tired. 6) In front of the class, the boring teacher talked about The Stone Age.

Task 2What can you add to make your new sentences even more interesting? Here are some suggestions:- relative clauses- additional conjunctions- prepositional phrases- expanded noun phrases- consider rewording.

S- SafetyH- Health and happinessA- AchievementR- RespectE- Equality

Task 1Create a mind map for each one. What does this mean to you? What ideas come to mind when you think about this word? Spend at least five minutes on each one in order to think carefully and consider all options. Ask others in your household in order to add their ideas to your mind map too. Could you do some research to further your understanding?

Task 2Demonstrate safety. Look at your mind map for safety. Think about what this means to you. How do you stay safe at home? How do we stay safe at school? Think about the rules that we have in place to keep you safe. How do you stay safe in the community?

When you go back to school there will be lots of rules that are the same and lots that are different. What rules would you like to see in place? Create your own list of school and classroom rules and write why this rule is important for each one. Come up with ten rules. You could type up these rules on purple mash and save them. Use the ‘blank writing template’, ‘blank lists’ to do this. https://www.purplem ash.com/#app/pup/Blank_list
