The new FMIS 5.0 User Interface is a simple, intuitive screen that utilizes a tabbed drop-down menu design that is familiar to most end users. With only two clicks or less the FMIS user can reach all main functionality.

EDS downloads of projects data – Your State will receive the equivalent XML files to what is currently received from FMIS4 production

Currently, W43 (All Current Projects) Download Extract is available for download in the SFTP test site in the following folder: test/projects/extracts/

Users need a new FMIS5 SFTP account to access the FMIS5 EDS test site New FMIS5 SFTP accounts have been created for existing FMIS/RASPS SFTP user accounts

and the users will be receiving e-mails with information on the SFTP user account and temporary password

Users will need to access the “File Transfer Registration” function available as a menu in the UPACS Login page (https://fhwaapps.fhwa.dot.gov/) and follow the instructions to reset their SFTP password.

It takes about an hour for the SFTP account and the password to be registered in the SFTP server and so we suggest that the user wait at least an hour after they reset their SFTP password before trying to login to the SFTP server

Instructions on connecting to the SFTP Server using a FTP client and regarding the EDS Upload functionality is available in the State Preparation document

Key Points about GIS & Bridge# Validation

12

Geospatial functionality (GIS) FMIS 5 uses FHWA’s Highway Performance Monitoring System(HPMS) as the source for

validating LRS data. So please contact your state’s HPMS coordinator to get information on the Route data submitted to HPMS and use that data for testing in FMIS5T.

NBI Bridge Number Validation FMIS 5 system uses the FHWA’s National Bridge Inventory (NBI) system to validate the Bridge

numbers. In addition to checking if it’s a valid bridge number, FMIS5 will also check if it’s the best bridge number.
