Case Study: Integration on Existing Vehicles

Background of Green Concepts:

A lot of stations, which are 30 to 40 years old and the measures they have to realise are related to extreme efforts and costs

The FOGTEC idea: reduce the given scenario by active measurements on board, in this case with a fire detection and fire suppression system.

The operator EVAG, the fire safety consultant and the approval body accepted this solution, but they gave an approval plan to FOGTEC.

Step 1: smoke tests on board of the different running trains to develop a fire detection concept on the base of the ARGE –directive

Step 2: full scale fire test to demonstrate the effectivenes s of the fire suppression system

Step 3: Realisation of a prototype system in a running train to demonstrate the feasibility and to get a clear view o f the costs

Step 4: safety approval for the complete system and the softw are
