Football Excellence Program

2018 Prospectus

10 June 2016

Stuart Michael Teacher - Health & Physical Education Football Excellence Program Coordinator Kawana Waters State College Sportsmans Parade BOKARINA 4575

Dear Stuart

I am writing in respect to the Kawana Waters State College Football Program of Excellence (which partners with Football Queensland) to reinforce our continued support for the program. The football program is the only one that is formally recognized on the Sunshine Coast by Football Queensland and supported by our PS4 National Premier League Club, Sunshine Coast FC Fire.

The Kawana Program has a number of strong underpinning principles: it provides strong connection between football excellence and a commitment to an education; is committed to the best technical approach to the game as embodied in the FFA Football Curriculum; and encourages an appropriate mix of personal endeavor and group commitment in its participants.

Sunshine Coast FC Fire has committed its support to the College’s Football Excellence program and will work closely together with the College to assist in the development of young football talent. Sunshine Coast FC will provide coaching support for the College’s program, assist with talent identification and the implementation of the FFA National Curriculum.

Football Queensland wholeheartedly supports the partnership between your College and Football Queensland , which takes it’s instruction from the FFA Whole of Football Plan and I look forward to a continuing partnership with the College.

Yours Sincerely

Geoff Foster Chief Executive Officer

RATIONALE

Kawana Waters State College prides itself on structures which allow students to pursue courses of study which supports their vocational goals. Our commitment to this philosophy has seen the implementation of many vocational courses at the College, one of these courses is the Football Program of Excellence. The Football Program of Excellence course has been designed to provide players with the opportunity to further develop their Football skills whilst using associated course work as pre-requisites, recognised prior learnings or pathways to other educational institutions, gaining further academic achievements. The Football Program of Excellence is designed for athletes who aspire to be selected as part of a regional, state or national team. Students in the program study football as a subject for up to six hours each week, utilising College and outside College time. Sessions are primarily be conducted at Kawana Waters State College. Participation in the Football Program of Excellence offers opportunities in competitions throughout Australia and internationally. The program can also lead students to pursue tertiary studies in Leisure, Sport and Recreation, Human Movements and Physical Education. Pathways include coaching, managerial positions and officiating of games as a referee or tournament manager. Regular visits from Football Queensland and the Sunshine Coast Fire will also provide the prospect for advanced playing opportunities.

Provide a realistic opportunity for students to realise potential through the development of Football skills.

Objectives We aim to:-

Develop player skills across all facets of the game - as a player, referee, coach, trainer and administrator;

Provide a balance between the excellence program in Football and academic studies;

Ensure that course work and resultant accreditation will enable pathways to future endeavors; and
