BUDGET BREAKDOWN

BREAKING down your BUDGET

Know what to spend where when planning your wedding at a resort versus a private estate. These budget examples are based on 100 people at $1000.00/head.

When you’re getting married at a resort, country club, or something of the like, where they provide catering, beverage and the majority of your rentals (china, flatware, glassware, tables, etc.), expect to spend the biggest percentage of your budget on your venue.

ARMS WORKOUT

TONEwith pilates instructor Libby Jansen

This set of exercises is designed to help you get the arms you want for your big day. Here we target biceps, triceps, shoulders, lats, and even your abs and legs. After mastering each move, do them in succession for one minute each. Repeat the entire circuit three times for maximum results.

Ten moves to

shape your

arms for your

wedding day!

LIBBY JANSEN was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, where she grew up being active and playing sports. After graduation from the University of Arizona, Libby began her career with lululemon athletica where she was encouraged to try different workouts. During this time, Libby fell in love with Pilates and the positive impact it has on your body. She then completed an 800-hour certification with the Pilates In-stitute of Southern California. ARMS WORKOUT

upStand up tall with your feet hips width apart; stand far enough away from the pole so that the band has tension. Raise elbows out until they are shoulder height and elbows create a 90-degree angle.

Sit down on the floor about two feet away from pole or until band has tension. Make sure you have a flat back and knees are bent.

ROWING1

1

2

2

Things to remember: This will work your stomach as well as arms. You want to make sure your core is on and that your back is flat the entire time.

STANDING ROW

Bend arms so they are at a 90-degree angle. Keeping arms in place, hinge back at hips keeping back towards the ground behind you. Repeat for one minute.

Standing tall with your entire body turned on bring your elbows back behind you. Repeat for one minute.

Things to remember: Make sure you keep your elbows at shoulder height, and you are standing up tall. No leaning back!

ARMS WORKOUT

STANDING TRICEPS

Things to remember: Again standing up tall and not leaning is very important. Keeping your stomach and entire body turned on will keep you stable and make sure you are not leaning.

Stand up tall with your feet hips width apart; stand far enough away from the pole so that the band has tension.

Keeping arms straight and using your triceps, push the palms of your hands behind you, resisting the pull as you bring your arms back to the starting position. Repeat for one minute.

1 3

2 Place hands at your side. This is the starting position and your hands should not come forward from this spot.

Page 17: For Always by Constance Curtis Events

Health & Beauty 17

ARMS WORKOUT

Things to remember: You want to make sure you are twisting from your bra line, and keeping hips facing forward. Make sure you are not leaning forward; keep your entire body on as you twist, this will keep you up right as well as give your abs a workout.

STANDING TWISTStand with your feet hips width apart, making sure you are far enough away from the pole so that you have tension in the band.

1

23 Rotate arms across your body keeping

hips square. This movement is coming from your upper body. Repeat for one minute. Keep arms straight and at shoulder height

(make sure not to bend your wrists).

Page 18: For Always by Constance Curtis Events

ARMS WORKOUT

Squat down so your knees are slightly bent and your back is flat.

Stand up tall with slight bend in the knees to keep them from locking out.

ONE ARM ROW

Things to remember: Keep your shoulders square, as you pull the band towards your body make sure your entire side does not come with you. Make sure you do both arms to stay even. This again will work your stomach and legs. It never hurts to add a little tummy work.

BUTTERFLY PULL

Things to remember: Keep your wrists straight and do not let them bend as you take the band outward.

1

1

2

2

3

3

Stand facing the pole, feet are hips width apart. Either loop or tie band around pole so you just have one handle. Step back so the band has tension.

Start with your arm straight out in front of you and pull back on the band bending your elbow behind you. Repeat for one minute.

Open your arms out to the side of your body. Repeat for one minute.

Keep arms straight and at shoulder height.

For this exercise you can use a circular band or just tie the band you have been using for the above workouts.

ARMS WORKOUT

TRICEP PRESS

Things to remember: Do not let your body move as you bend your arms. Like I have said so many times before, keep your entire body turned on to keep everything stable. Keep your wrists straight as you go through the movements.

For those of you who are more advanced come up onto your toes. This will throw off your balance, making it more challenging to stay stable. Repeat for one minute.

Wrap band around pole near shoulder height; stand about one foot from pole facing away. Extend arms straight just over your head. Now lean slightly forward so your body is at a slant with the band stabilizing you.

Keeping your body in place, bend your elbows toward your head and back out straight.

3

2

ARMS WORKOUT

Start with feet hips width apart; again make sure the band has tension. Place band so that it is at shoulder height.

Things to remember: As you are squatting down make sure your chest is up and the only thing rotating is your upper body. Just like any other squat make sure your knees stay behind your toes, really try your best to keep your knees over your heels if you can.

TWIST SQUAT1

2

3

4

Begin with your arms extended straight and directly in front of your body.

The next part is just like the standing twist that was done before only you are adding a squat. This squat should be low; try to get to 90-degrees or a bit lower.

As you are coming up from the squat, push through your heels to stand and resist the band as you untwist. Repeat for one minute.

Page 21: For Always by Constance Curtis Events

Health & Beauty 21

ARMS WORKOUT

Start in downward facing dog: feet are hips width, your upper body is bent over and your booty is in the air.

DOWN DOG PUSH-UP

PUSH-UPS

Bending your elbows, move your body down toward the ground. Keeping the integrity of the push-up, go as far down as you can and push back up. Repeat for one minute.

We may not love them but they are great for arms! You can do these either on your knees or on your toes (at least try to do some on your toes—you can always come to your knees if you need to).

Things to remember: DO NOT let your head lead the push up. Keep your head in line with your spine as you move your body up and down. No need to rush doing these; keep working on them and you will become great!

Get into a plank position and make sure your upper back is filled in and you are not dropping your chest towards the ground.

1

1

2

2 3

Things to remember: Really try to keep your body at that 45-degree angle. You should not end up in plank during this exercise. Don’t forget to keep breathing!

Look down at your hands; fingers should be spread wide. Find your middle by imagining a line from one thumb to the other. Once you have found that, glide your hairline to your thumbs by bending at the elbow, keeping that booty in the air.

To come back up, imagine someone has a string tied to your tailbone and is pulling your booty back up to downward facing dog. Repeat for one minute.
