Five months ago, Elizabeth Hoyt* was a homeless veteran with monthly disability benefits of $269.30. Today, she’s in a stable environment with a yearly salary of over $50,000. When Elizabeth contacted Mission United for a 30-day bus pass, she had no idea that call would take her from homeless to housed. From unemployed to a full-time job. From taking the bus to shopping for a used car. One call to Mission United changed the trajectory of Elizabeth’s life.

That’s because we don’t stop at the immediate need. We dig deeper. We ask questions. We find the barriers a person is facing and use our network of partners to help them navigate and overcome those challenges. In fact, it took seven different organizations working together to help Elizabeth make this transformation. Our mission is to touch hundreds of others like Elizabeth so that together, we can lift generations out of poverty.
