Young people from the Parish are invited to apply for a John Paul II Award which recognises parish and community involvement. Applicants must be aged between 16 and18 and should be active in a Parish Ministry such as reading, choir membership, Minister of the Eucharist or Welcome Ministry. They should also be engaged in voluntary work within the community. Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards are presented each year by the Archdiocese of Dublin. In 2015 four Bray candidates received Gold Awards,

“I desire mercy, and not sacrifice’: The works of mercy on the Jubilee path

By calling for an attentive listening to the word of God… I sought to stress the primacy of prayerful listening to God’s word, especially his prophetic word. The mercy of God is a proclamation made to the world, a proclamation which each Christian is called to experience at first hand. For this reason, during the season of Lent I will send out Missionaries of Mercy as a concrete sign to everyone of God’s closeness and forgiveness.’

Any one of the seven corporal works of mercy gives us an opportunity to follow Christ’s teaching. He has given us an example. It is up to us to follow.
