FASTENING THE SAFETYBELTS

Pull the belt out steadily. It may lock if youpull it sharply or if your vehicle is on a slope.Press the red button on the buckle torelease the belt. Hold the tongue and let itretract completely and smoothly to itsstowed position.

MYKEY™The system allows you to program keyswith restricted driving modes to promotegood driving habits. You can use all but oneof the keys programmed to your vehiclewith these restricted modes.Any keys that have not been programmedare referred to as an administrator key oradmin key. These can be used to:• create a MyKey• program optional MyKey settings• clear all MyKey features.When you have programmed a MyKey, youcan access the following information usingthe information display:• How many admin keys and MyKeys are

programmed to your vehicle.• The total distance your vehicle has

traveled using a MyKey.Note: Switch the ignition on to use thesystem.Note: All MyKeys are programmed to thesame settings. You cannot program themindividually.

Standard SettingsThe following settings cannot be changed:• Safety belt minder. You cannot disable

this feature. The audio system will mutewhen this feature is activated.

• Low fuel level warning. When the fuellevel is low, warnings will be shown inthe display followed by an audible tone.

• Driver assist features, for examplenavigation and parking aids. Thesesystems turn on automaticallywhenever you switch the ignition on.

Optional SettingsYou can configure MyKey settings when youfirst create a MyKey. You can also changethe settings afterward with an admin key.

The following settings can be configuredusing an admin key:• Various vehicle speed limits can be set.

Warnings will be shown in the displayfollowed by an audible tone when yourvehicle reaches the set speed. Youcannot override the set speed by fullydepressing the accelerator pedal.

• Various vehicle speed reminders can beset. Warnings will be shown in thedisplay followed by an audible tonewhen the set vehicle speed is exceeded.

• Audio system maximum volume of45%. A message will be shown in thedisplay when you attempt to exceedthe limited volume. Automatic volumecontrol will be disabled.

• Always on setting. When this is selectedyou will not be able to disableemergency assistance or the do notdisturb feature.

Vehicles with Keyless EntryIf a MyKey and an admin key are present,your vehicle will recognize the admin keyonly.

CREATING A MYKEYVehicles without Keyless Starting1. Insert the key you want to program into

the ignition.2. Switch the ignition on.3. Access the main menu using the

information display. Select MyKey andpress OK or the right arrow button.

4. Select Create MyKey and press OK.5. When prompted, press and hold OK

until you see a message informing youto label this key as a MyKey. The key willbe restricted the next time you use it.

Note: Make sure you label the MyKey so youcan distinguish it from the admin keys.

Vehicles with Keyless Starting1. Switch the ignition on using an admin

key.

2. Access the main menu using theinformation display. Select MyKey andpress OK or the right arrow button.

3. Hold the key you want to program nextto the steering column exactly asshown.

4. Select Create MyKey and press OK.5. When prompted, press and hold OK

until you see a message informing youto label this key as a MyKey. The key willbe restricted the next time you use it.

Note: Make sure you label the MyKey so youcan distinguish it from the admin keys.

PROGRAMMING A MYKEYOptional Settings1. Switch the ignition on using an admin

key.2. Access the main menu using the

information display. Select MyKey andpress OK or the right arrow button.

3. Use the arrow buttons to scroll to anoptional feature.

4. Press OK or the right arrow button toscroll through the settings.

5. Press OK or the right arrow button tomake a selection.

CLEARING ALL MYKEYSNote: Clearing all MyKeys will return theadmin key to its default setting and reset theMykey distance to zero.1. Switch the ignition on using an admin

key.2. Access the main menu using the

information display. Select MyKey andpress OK or the right arrow button.

3. Scroll to Clear All and press OK.4. Press and hold OK until you see a

message informing you that all MyKeyshave been cleared.

CHECKING MYKEY SYSTEMSTATUSYou can find information about yourprogrammed MyKeys by using theinformation display.

MyKey DistanceTracks the distance when drivers use aMyKey. The only way to delete theaccumulated distance is by using an adminkey to clear your MyKey. If the distance doesnot accumulate as expected, then theintended user is not using the MyKey, or anadmin key user recently cleared and thenrecreated a MyKey.

Number of MyKeysIndicates the number of MyKeysprogrammed to your vehicle. Use thisfeature to detect how many MyKeys youhave for your vehicle and determine whena MyKey has been deleted.

Number of Admin KeysIndicates how many admin keys areprogrammed to your vehicle. Use thisfeature to determine how many admin keysyou have for your vehicle, and detect if anadditional MyKey has been programmed.

USING MYKEY WITH REMOTESTART SYSTEMSMyKey is not compatible with nonFord-approved, aftermarket remote startsystems. If you choose to install a remotestart system, see an authorized dealer fora Ford-approved remote start system.

MYKEY TROUBLESHOOTINGAll Vehicles

Potential CausesCondition

The key used to start the vehicle is not an admin key.The key used to start the vehicle is the only key. Therealways has to be at least one admin key.

I cannot clear the MyKeys.

Purchase a new key from an authorized dealer.I lost the only admin key.

Program a spare key.I lost a key.

The MyKey is not being used by the intended user.The MyKeys have been cleared. See Clearing All MyKeys(page 5).

The MyKey distance doesnot accumulate.

Vehicles With Push Button Start

The wipers will function when the rainsensor detects water on the windshield.The rain sensor will continue to monitor theamount of water on the windshield andadjust the speed of the wipersautomatically. Use the rotary control toadjust the sensitivity of the rain sensor.

AUTOLAMPS

The headlamps will switch on and offautomatically in low light situations orduring poor weather.

GLOBAL OPENING ANDCLOSINGVehicles Without Keyless Entry

Global OpeningTo open all the windows:

1. Press and release the remote controlunlock button.

2. Press and hold the remote controlunlock button for at least three seconds.

Global ClosingTo close all the windows, pressand hold the remote control lockbutton for at least three seconds.

Vehicles With Keyless EntryGlobal Opening and Closing

To open or close all the windows, press andhold the driver door handle for at least threeseconds.

HINTS ON CONTROLLING THEINTERIOR CLIMATENote: When the temperature is below 39°F(4°C) the air conditioning is inactive. The airconditioning lamp will still illuminate whenthe button is pressed indicating the systemis in standby mode.

Recommended Settings for Cooling- Manual Climate Control

1. Open the center and side air vents.

2. Direct the center air vents and the sideair vents as desired.

Recommended Settings for Cooling- Automatic Climate Control

1. Set the temperature to 72°F (22°C).2. Open the center and side air vents.3. Direct the center air vents and the side

Recommended Settings forHeating - Manual Climate Control

1. Close the center air vents and open theside air vents.

2. Direct the side air vents toward the sidewindows.

Recommended Settings forHeating - Automatic ClimateControl

Defrosting and Demisting theWindshield - Manual ClimateControl

When the temperature is above 39°F (4°C),the air conditioning will switch onautomatically for quicker demisting. Makesure that the blower is on. The indicator inthe switch will illuminate during defrostingand demisting.If you move the air distribution control to aposition other than windshield, the airconditioning will remain on.

HEAD RESTRAINTSAdjust the head restraint so that the top ofit is level with the top of your head.

1. Lift the headrest to raise.2. Press the release button and push down

the headrest to lower.

MANUAL SEATSNote: The memory function is available onthe driver seat.

Folding the Seatback Forward - 3-Door

1. Pull the locking lever to release theseatback.

Note: Do not hold on to the locking leverwhen moving the seat.2. Fold the seatback fully forward.3. Slide the seat forward.

Returning the Seatback to theSeating Position - 3-DoorNote: Make sure the seat base has beenmoved to the correct position before foldingthe seatback upright.

1. Push the seatback to slide the tiltedseat to the end stop (memory position)or desired seating position.

2. Fold the seatback to the uprightposition.

KEYLESS STARTINGNote: The system may not function if thekey is close to metal objects or electronicdevices such as cell phones.

Ignition OnPress the button once.

Starting with Manual TransmissionNote: Releasing the clutch pedal while theengine is starting will stop the enginecranking and return to ignition on.1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.2. Briefly press the button.

Starting with AutomaticTransmissionNote: Releasing the brake pedal while theengine is starting will stop the enginecranking and return to ignition on.1. Move the transmission selector lever to

position P or N.2. Fully depress the brake pedal.3. Briefly press the button.

Starting a Diesel EngineNote: Engine cranking will not commenceuntil the engine glow plug indicator hasextinguished. This may take several secondsin extremely cold conditions.

Stopping the Engine When YourVehicle is Moving1. Press and hold the button for at least

one second or press it three times withintwo seconds.

2. Move the transmission selector lever toposition N and use the brakes to bringyour vehicle to a safe stop.

3. When your vehicle has stopped, movethe transmission selector lever toposition P or N and switch the ignitionoff.

STARTING A GASOLINEENGINEVehicles with Manual TransmissionNote: Do not touch the accelerator pedal.Note: Releasing the clutch pedal while theengine is starting will stop the enginecranking and return to ignition on.1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.2. Start the engine.

Vehicles with AutomaticTransmissionNote: Do not touch the accelerator pedal.1. Move the transmission selector lever to

Vehicles With AutomaticTransmissionNote: Do not touch the accelerator pedal.Note: Releasing the brake pedal while theengine is starting will stop the enginecranking and return to ignition on.1. Move the transmission selector lever to

AUTO-START-STOPUsing Start-StopNote: The system is on by default. To switchthe system off, press the switch in theinstrument panel. The system will only beswitched off for the current ignition cycle. Toturn it on, press the switch again.

To stop the engine1. Stop your vehicle.2. Move the gear lever to the neutral

position.3. Release the clutch pedal.4. Release the accelerator pedal.The system may not shut down the engineunder certain conditions, for example:

• To maintain the interior climate.• Low battery voltage.• The outside temperature is too low or

too high.• The driver's door has been opened.• Low engine operating temperature.• Low brake system vacuum.• If a road speed of 3 mph (5 km/h) has

not been exceeded.• The driver's safety belt has not been

fastened.

To re-start the engineNote: The gear lever must be in the neutralposition.Depress the clutch pedal.The system may automatically restart theengine under certain conditions, forexample:• Low battery voltage.• To maintain the interior climate.

REFUELING

1. Press the flap to open it. Open the flapfully until it engages.

2. Insert the fuel nozzle up to and includingthe first notch on the nozzle A. Keep itresting on the cover of the fuel pipeopening.

3. Operate the nozzle within the areashown.

Note: We recommend that you wait at least10 seconds before removing the fuel pipenozzle to allow any residual fuel to drain intothe fuel tank.4. Slightly raise the fuel nozzle to remove

it.

MANUAL TRANSMISSIONSelecting Reverse GearDo not engage reverse gear when yourvehicle is moving. This can cause damageto the transmission.

HILL START ASSISTThe system makes it easier to pull awaywhen your vehicle is on a slope without theneed to use the parking brake.When the system is active, your vehicle willremain stationary on the slope for two tothree seconds after you release the brakepedal. This allows you time to move yourfoot from the brake to the acceleratorpedal. The brakes are releasedautomatically once the engine hasdeveloped sufficient drive to prevent yourvehicle from rolling down the slope.

Why Is The Interior Noisy WhilstDriving?When your car is moving with the windowsopened, the passenger compartmentbecomes a vacuum. The car body and thevacuum creates a resonance whichgenerates noise.To reduce wind noise or buffeting when justone window is open, open the oppositewindow slightly.

Under What Conditions Will The NoisesBe More Audible While Driving?• Driving on a concrete road.• Driving through tunnels or between

barriers.• Driving through strong winds and in cold

weather.• Driving at high speed.• Driving over speed humps.• Incorrect tire inflation pressure.

CLEANING THE EXTERIORNote: If you use a car wash with a waxingcycle, make sure that you remove the waxfrom the windshield.

Cleaning the Windows and WiperBladesYou should clean the windows and wiperblades regularly. If the wipers do not wipeproperly, substances on your vehicle’s glassor the wiper blades may cause squeakingor chatter noise from the blades, andstreaking and smearing of the windshield.
