Application/Notification

Class 1 FP: No Written Permit• Danger trees:

– Non-forest land-- within 1 1/2 tree height of habitable buildings, review by FP Forester

– May need county permits

– Must follow all F.P. Rules

• Harvest less than 5000 B.F. for your own use

• Silvicultural practices

• Road maintenance (no water)

• Construct 600 feet of road (no water)

• Ground application of chemicals, Aerial on less than 40 acres (no water)

• Harvest on 2 acre parcel or less

Approved FP Application• Forest Practice Applications/notifications (Class II,

III, & IV Special), requiring a moratorium - $70.00 • Forest Practice Applications for Conversion

activities (Class IV General) - $500.00• Forest Practice Applications on Lands Platted; no

conversion planned (Class IV General) - $50.00

Note: Some counties have jurisdictional authority over Class IV Generals, contact Region Office for information.

The Process• After the complete application/notification is

received by the Department you can expect a timeframe of 5-45 days before you may begin operating.

• Notification will be sent to you via priority mail or e-mail of the assigned number and expected time-frame.

• Applications are valid for 2 years, can request a multi-year permit for up to five years.

The rules are different for landowners who own less than 80 acres; and their block of forest land is less than 20 contiguous acres. Exempt (RMAP Brochure )

Fish Passage Barriers• ALL Must be Replaced, Removed, or

Timber Harvest Section• All Questions must be answered for Harvest.• Wildlife Reserve Tree and Green

Recruitment Tree requirements must be addressed as clumped or other.

• Reforestation must be addressed.• Timber Harvest Boundaries must be

addressed and MARKED on the ground.

T & E Species

• Definition: All species of wildlife listed as “threatened” or “endangered” by US SIC and all species designated as “threatened” or “endangered” by WDFW.

• WAC-222-16-080• Chinook Salmon• Bull Trout

– These two cover all Salmonids

• Bald Eagle– Needs a Management Plan

Owners of less than 500 acres

• Marbled Murrelet– only habitat if known site

• Spotted Owl– only where within o.7 miles of

a known site

Wetland Section

• Fill this out only if there are typed wetlands that exist within or adjacent to your proposal.

• Address any work to be done in a wetland or wetland management zone.

• Identify wetlands on map and address marking requirements.

Water Type Section

• This Section is to be filled out if there are ANY Type 4, 5 or unmapped and untyped waters within 130 feet (horizontal distance) of your proposed operation.

• Field verification is required.

Riparian Harvest Section• If any operations are within 200 feet of

Type 1-3 waters, then you must provide a site class map and RMZ width calculations.

• See Appendix A of the Instructions to determine RMZ widths.

Small Landowner Riparian Exemption Section

This can only be used if:You own less than 80 acres of forest land in the

State, andYour proposal is on a total ownership (tax

parcel) of 20 contiguous acres or less.RMZ rules in effect as of 1/1/99, plus 15%

Easement Program.

Type 4 Water

A minimum of 50% of the riparian zone will be buffered by a 50 foot no cut buffer.

The first 500 feet above the fish bearing junction must be entirely buffered with a 50 foot no cut buffer.

All sensitive areas must be protected. Including seeps, springs, and perennial initiation points.
