DATA SHEET

FortiDeploy is a feature in FortiCloud that is able to quickly onboard FortiAP wireless access points and FortiGate firewalls from a centralized, cloud-based management console.

FortiDeploy™

Zero-touch Bulk Provisioning Solution

FortiDeploy is a mechanism built into FortiCloud™

that allows for simplified import and provisioning of

any quantity of devices. It allows the user to deploy

local or remote installed FortiGates and FortiAPs

to their preferred management interface with a few

clicks of the mouse.

Highlights

§ Onboard any number of devices with a single key entry

§ Works across various Fortinet devices, with capability to mix FortiGates and FortiAPs in a single deployment key

How it WorksWhen a customer includes FortiDeploy on their order, they will receive a single bulk deployment key tied to all supported devices within that order. When the customer then visits FortiCloud.com, they can enter any individual FortiCloud key, or the single bulk FortiDeploy FortiCloud key sent with their order. Upon entering a FortiDeploy bulk key, the full list of device serial numbers will be listed on FortiCloud.com. As devices at remote locations are plugged in, they automatically obtain an IP address via DHCP. These devices then ‘call home’ to FortiCloud. From there, the device will receive the customer’s preconfigured management choice for their devices. This includes sending a FortiManager IP or adding devices directly into FortiCloud for management. When this process is complete, the devices can be monitored and managed from the chosen management interface.

FortiDeploy™

Product SKU Description

FortiDeploy FDP-SINGLE-USE Enables zero-touch bulk provisioning for your FortiGate, FortiWiFi, or FortiAP products with FortiCloud. Must be purchased with every PO.

* This feature is only available on devices running 5.2.2 for FortiGate/FortiWiFi and 5.0.9 for FortiAP (or newer). This feature is only available on lower end FortiGate/FortiWiFi models (FG-280 and below) and all FortiAPs.

ORDER INFORMATION

FortiDeploy is a free service for individual devices but also offers an upgrade option to deploy multiple items with a single bulk provisioning

key. For FortiManager or FortiCloud customers who would like to add bulk provisioning for multiple devices, add the following SKU to the

purchase order*:

Activities and Challenges Addressed

Activity Challenge FortiDeploy Benefits

Activation and Onboarding

Management is handled at HQ, but devices must be deployed at branch offices by Field Technicians who do not have specialized training.

• Easy and secure onboarding of Fortinet Firewalls/APs onto Fortinet’s management platforms.

• Reduces time to add a device and automates the process for plug-and-play configuration.

• New device installations do not require highly technical personnel to perform configuration. It is performed remotely from the cloud.

Centralized Device Management

Security admin must provision and install policies centrally.

Centralized management from a single web-based console (Deploy/Undeploy devices in bulk). Flexible and scalable to quickly meet business demands.

Remote Provisioning with FortiCloudFortiDeploy is particularly useful for deployment of security and

wireless infrastructure at remote locations, where onsite provisioning

technical expertise is limited. Deployment settings, such as which

FortiCloud or FortiManager a device should report to, can be

preconfigured in FortiCloud. Devices then can automatically find

their intended management interface with no onsite IT involvement.

In the management world, zero-touch provisioning has

revolutionized onboarding and provisioning. Rather than use

command-line interfaces (CLI) to configure devices one at a

time, administrators can use FortiCloud to automate the roll out

of devices all at once and enable manageability of those with a

single click.

Supported ModelsBulk FortiDeploy keys can be created for all FortiAPs and FortiWiFi

devices. The smaller FortiGates, which provide a dedicated

WAN port, are also supported (up to and including the 200E).

Any combination of these devices can be included in a single

FortiDeploy bulk key.

When assigning management options, a FortiGate/FortiWiFi can be

assigned to a specific FortiManager or FortiCloud for management.

FortiAPs can be assigned to FortiManager, FortiCloud, or a specific

FortiGate for management and control.
