Religious Education Dear Friends, Happy Easter! Alleluia! Did you know that the Easter season lasts for 50 days? So today is only the beginning of our rejoicing! We spend a lot of time deciding what sacrifices we will make during the 40 days of Lent. This year, let’s make joyful resolutions for the Easter season – what one thing can you do every day of the Easter season to rejoice and give thanks to God? Choose something good! Next Sunday we have our last class in the morning, and celebration of Confirmation in the afternoon. What a wonderful way to end the religious education year! Peace and every blessing, Eva
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
The Catholic community in Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore – our diocese – and the Church as a whole, have worked hard to protect our precious children. We must all remain vigilant until child sexual abuse is no longer a part of society. What has the Diocese of Wilmington and the Catholic Church in the United States done to respond to sexual abuse by church personnel and protect our children?
For the Sake of God’s Children is a Diocese of Wilmington program focused on the continuous development of a safe environment for children in our church and school communities. It has three major components: background checks for church personnel, ethical and behavioral standards, and safe environments. Visit www.cdow.org for details
To our newest parishioners & those visiting welcome. May you find faith, fellowship, love and peace.

Pastor’s Column HAPPY EASTER!
Happy Easter! Or as most other languages prefer: Blessed Pasch—Passover! Pasqua, Pascua, Páscoa, Pâques! Israel’s Passover through the Red Sea to the Promised Land! Jesus’ Passover through the Cross to resurrection! Our catechumens’ Passover last night, and ours once upon a time, through Baptism’s waters to our family’s Eucharist! Welcome, everybody! As someone once said of the Catholic Church, “Here comes everybody!” So in this Jubilee of Mercy, we make our own Saint John Chrysostom’s Easter welcome from fourteen hundred years ago: “Let everyone enjoy this radiant feast! You who fasted from Lent’s beginning, and you who didn’t fast at all, rejoice! The table’s richly set! Come, take from it, everybody, no worries, no embarrassment! All of you, taste the banquet of faith! Enjoy the feast of forgiveness! Let no one grieve for having sinned again and again: pardon has risen from the tomb!” Happy Easter! Blessed Pasch! Welcome, everybody! The Catechism of the Catholic Church says: “Holy. Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit…and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word" (CCC # 1213) Godparents (Sponsors): Parents are asked to choose at least one "God-parent" (sponsor) for their child to be baptized. If one is chosen, a male or female may be selected; if two are chosen, one must be male, and one female. The God-parent must be Catholic, over age 16, have received Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, and be in full communion with the Church and able to receive the Sacraments. He or she (or they) must be faithful practicing Catholic so that he/she (they) can fulfill the role to assist the parents in raising the child in the Catholic Faith. If one of the "God-parents" is not Catholic or does not meet these important requirements, then he or she may still serve as a "witness" to the ceremony although he or she would not be listed as a "God-parent" or "sponsor" in the Registry. Baptismal Preparation is required for parents baptizing their first child. Please call the parish office at (302) 658.7017 to schedule your baptism.
A word of appreciation to everyone who
made our Lenten and Easter celebrations a beautiful, prayerful experience - our Priests and Deacons, Parish Staff, Lectors, Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, Sacristans, Musicians, Choir, Cantors, Altar Servers, Knights of Columbus, Devotional Groups and Decorators, anyone who contributed in any way – you are a blessing!
2019 Annual Catholic Appeal “As I have done for you, you should also do.”
Diocesan Target: $4,775,500 St. Joseph on the Brandywine Target: $263,000
Thank you to everyone who has made a pledge to this year’s diocesan Annual Catholic Appeal. If you have not yet participated, please consider doing so today. Your gift makes a real difference in the lives of thousands of individuals and families who reside within our 12-county diocese. You may return your pledge envelopes in the offertory basket. Thank you for your generosity. To learn more about the Annual Catholic Appeal, visit www.cdow.org/annualcatholicappeal. Food Collection Weekend of April 27/28 The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry of St. Catherine of Siena volunteers thank all those who continue to donate food. Your generous donations are truly a blessing. There is a continuous need for the following: whole grain breakfast cereals, old fashioned oats, add water pancake mix, coffee, tea, low fat evaporated milk, flour, protein bars, dried fruits, nuts, peanut butter, jelly, low sodium hearty soups, canned meats and fish, rice and beans, pasta and crushed or diced tomatoes, canned lite fruit, natural low sugar applesauce, canned low sodium vegetables, olive oil or canola oil, bar soap, shampoo, toilet paper and toothpaste. We appreciate your kindness and generosity.
Greet everyone you see today with a smile. It doesn't take any time or money. It's easy. All you have to do is
remember. Challenge your child to join you in this "game" for one day. Help each other remember.
NEED A PRIESTLY VISIT? Please know that if you are homebound, sick, aging, preparing for a surgical procedure, recovering from a surgical procedure. Or find yourself in the hospital unexpectedly – a priest is most happy to visit you with Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick. One does NOT have to be in a state of “end-of -life” for the anointing. It can be administered to any one, at any time one feels physically or emotionally “low” in life. Please give us a call, we are here for you.
