PRIEST: Consider this first fall of Jesusunder His cross. His flesh was torn by thescourges, His head crowned with thorns,and He had lost a great quantity of blood.He was so weakened that He couldscarcely walk, and yet He had to carry thisgreat load upon His shoulders. Thesoldiers struck Him rudely, and thus Hefell several times in His journey.

PEOPLE: My beloved Jesus, it is not theweight of the cross, but of my sins, whichhave made Thee suffer so much pain. Ah,by the merits of this first fall, deliver mefrom the misfortune of falling into mortalsin. I love Thee, O my Jesus, with mywhole heart; I repent of having offendedThee.
