George’s Weekly Message: Acknowledging God’s Protection The psalmist says, “Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build. Unless the Lord guard the city, in vain does the guard keep watch (Psalm 127:1). Sometimes we are so full of ourselves that we forget how much God loves us and protects us. It is not that we are the best, or we have the best security apparatus that we have gone through this year without any incident in our school, in our church, our homes or community. We must thank God and acknowledge with gratitude for protect- ing us. As the psalmist says again “You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shade of the Almighty . . . He will shel- ter with his pinions, and under his wings you may take refuge; his faithfulness is a protecting shield” (Ps 91). We should acknowledge God’s protecting shield even more now that we experience in various parts of the country and the world horrible incidents where innocent children are shot dead while in school, and innocent worshippers are killed while in church worshipping God. In the midst of these frequent occurrences all over the country, we are spared to praise and worship God, and our children safely go to school. We sincerely thank God for his mercies and protection, while at the same time, we pray not to take these for granted. We therefore need to contin- ue to be vigilant. That is why we thank our ushers and greeters for doing a credible job of welcoming people into church and taking guard at the various entrances of our churches. Their work is even more appreciated at this time when we need to keep our doors open because of the warm weather. The sea- son demands that we are outside in the open often. The festivities and sum- mer camping are going on all over the country. We entrust all to the protect- ing shield of God. We pray that God will uphold our going out and coming in. Amen OLLH PRINCIPAL: By the grace of God we have found an interim Principal of OLLH School. She is Ms. Cathryn Goulet. She is the 6 th grade teacher since 2016. She had been a teacher for twenty-three years and retired as Principal after eleven years. She holds a Master of Arts in Education Leadership. We wish her well in this new assignment, and we pray that she will bring her wealth of experience into the desired transformation that OLLH yeans for. UPCOMING EVENTS My 17 th Priestly Ordination Anniversary will be on Saturday July 21. You are invited at the 4:30 pm Mass to pray with and for me that the grace of ordination will be sustained and blossom in me. The OLLH Annual Summer Festival is schedule for July 26, 28 & 29 Please make out time for these days and contribute in whatever way you can to make it a success. Diocese of Saginaw Priests’ Annual Picnic: The parish will be host- ing the priests of the diocese for their annual picnic. It will be on Monday August 27, 2018. I thank the Knights of Columbus for volunteering their time and resources to help us host them. God bless you. Mailing address: 413 S.
