Choosing the right Fragrance Choosing the right Fragrance • A scent is just as important as any jewelry or accessory…it needs to work with you and your style. Choosing the

perfect perfume is not as primitive as Men do. Men opt for any scent that their partner recommends or buys regardless of the occasion, feeling, or style.

• Perfume for women is a little more of a delicate choice. Take time smelling fragrances …Perhaps ask for a sample so you can try the perfume out at home and on a night out. What fragrance do you get excited about? Is it a floral, woody or fruity one. Does it fit into the occasion? Women's perfume should represent the person that they are. Try on the perfume - not too many on yourself!

• Put it on your wrist and let it blend. Remember less is more. One of the best ways to wear a perfume is to spray a fine mist of the fragrance in the air and walk through - allowing the scent to wrap around you. This way the perfume is not too overpowering. Make a note of how many people comment on the fragrance that you are wearing. The perfume needs to become you. A good scent is worth the wait. It is not as simple as a man's after shave. Women's perfumes are special - something to treasure and be proud of the you have found that something that makes you feel special when you wear it - the right choice in perfumes.

Fragrance CompositionFragrance CompositionFragrance goes through three main stages, in which its intensity changes and different elements of its composition emerge. The stages of Fragrance are called Top, Mid and Base Notes

TOP NOTES:The top note is the first impression of a Fragrance and because of this, top notes are very important in the selling of Fragrance.

•Gets yours attention right away, make an impression•Strong but evaporates quickly •Common top notes – citrus, fruity, and green notes

MID NOTES: As the top notes gradually fade away a Fragrance intensifies and becomes richer as the mid notes become apparent.

•Appears 10-20 minutes after application•Form the heart or body of a Fragrance•Give a Fragrance overall character•Common mid notes – Floral and spices

BASE NOTES:The base notes give the Fragrance its foundation and lastingness or what a Fragrance developers call tenacity

•Noticeable 15 minutes after application•The final scent to emerge from a Fragrance•Bring depth and solidness as a Fragrance fades•Common base notes – woods, musk, amber and vanilla

When customers understand fragrance layering, it’s great for add-on sales.

Scent SecretsScent Secrets

• Can Spoil over time – Keep your Fragrance in a cold and shady place. New perfumes could be kept for three years. If you used to apply perfume very often, keeping in refrigerator (on the lowest shelf) will prolong its life even more.

• Body Chemistry - If your skin is oilier than dry, perfume will be kept on it better.

• Food • Rubbing – If you apply a Fragrance to your wrist, never rub as it bruises the scent

• Weather – Leaving your fragrance in the heat will damage the scent

• Hair - your hair keep smells even better than your skin does. That is why spray some perfume on your brush and run over your hair for a couple of times or rub some fragrance into your hair.

Page 16: Fragrance Training

Fragrance doesn’t last long enough.

Recommend different fragrances and give samples. Tell customer that fragrance mixes with the individual’s body “chemistry”. Experiment until she finds a good match.

Use the information and descriptions from the fragrance charts and get the customer to try and Avon fragrance.

Recommend layering or applying the Fragrance on hair or pulse points. If you apply to the hair, sprits the brush and do not apply directly to the hair. Great pulse points are your elbows and behind your knees

Fragrance doesn’t smell good on me.

I wear a different company’s fragrance.
