Frame analysis- Jurassic World
Imogen Lowe
Camera shot
Sound No dialogueBackground music
Classical orchestral instruments
Purpose and effect This shot is an eyeline match and its purpose is to build tension of what the character is looking at. In the background there are many people excited and taking pictures which makes the audience wonder what is so special.
This shows what everyone is looking at and taking pictures of. The Grand gates opening is very effective as it introduces the audience to a surreal and beautiful place and starts to show a setting.
Camera shot
Sound No dialogueBackground music
A large roaring sound from the dinosaur
Purpose and effect This shot first shows dinosaurs running around and establishes the genre of the film. It also immediately establishes the setting of the film.
This shot is very effective as it makes the trailer much more interesting rather than just showing brief clips, this shot is powerful and represents how colossal dinosaurs are
Camera shot
Sound ‘weve learnt more in the past decade from genetics than a century of digging up bones’Background music
‘we have our first genetically modified hybrid’
Purpose and effect Takes a bad turn, the trailer started well and then the events start to happen. Supporting narrative theories.
This shows that there is clearly something exciting for the audience as in previous films this never happened, it is effective for enticing the audience to watch the film.
Camera shot
Sound ‘ We need to evacuate the island’
‘She will kill anything that moves’
Purpose and effect This dialogue follows the narrative theory and has a purpose to entice the audience as this line raises many enigmas as it hasn’t shown the genetically modified creature.
This line is very powerful for a trailer and a lot of the storyline is given away without actually revealing the creature itself which raises many questions as to what it looks and acts like.
