She had been tracking
the deer. Her parents
had taught her how.
One hour before,
finding the hoof prints in
the soft earth, she had
followed the trail of
broken twigs and
occasional nibbled leaf
until she had located it.
Creeping slowly and
quietly, not making
even the slightest
sound, she remained
undetected.
She had stumbled
across the mysterious
circles in a clearing in
the forest, and watched
as the deer
approached them. With
a slight twitch of its ears,
the deer stepped
indifferently through the
first circle, and
vanished. Completely
vanished.
The girl let out a gasp,
and walked towards
the circles to
investigate…

Before reading, what do
you already know about
ANZAC Day?
What type of text is this?
(Imaginative,
Informative, or
Persuasive?) Justify your
answer.
Reading the article.
Were there any words in
the article you do not
know the meaning of?
(Tuesday Grammar) to

first two lines to make it
easy for you. The blue is
what was spoken and
the yellow is for who said
it and how they said it.
You may like to continue
the same.
Reading
Read a text of your
choice. If you are able
too, record a section on
a phone. Play it back to
yourself and follow the
section in your book
while you listen to the
recording. What could
you do to improve your
reading? Read that
section again, focusing
on improving your
reading.
Record a log of what
you read, how many

Can you continue the

Remember to use
paragraphs and
interesting language to
engage the reader.

your background.
Remember larger
objects go at the back.

a guide to completing
