  Relief -  Immediate relief in the form of jobs, food,

monetary support, etc.   Recovery -  More permanent projects centered around

longer term support. -  Construction of schools, public works, workers

rights, wage protection, home owners loans   Reform -  Long term changes on the way things are done in

the future. -  Trade liberalization (removal of tariffs), SEC, FDIC

FDR VS. THE SUPREME COURT

•  6 of 9 justices were over 70 and thought it was their duty to rule against FDR (programs were “socialist”).

•  FDR wants to add 1 new justice for every justice over 70 (cap at 15 justices).

•  Roosevelt's initiative ultimately failed.
