As freshman entering Armstrong, we looked at taking choir as just another routine class, an activity to fill your day or a need to fulfill your graduation requirements. We have learned its true value over the past four years. Each year has brought us new challenges, opportunities, and the pursuit of excellence. Striving for excellence is taught from Day One by our amazing Armstrong Choir Directors. While other schools may see choir as just another class, this thought rarely crosses the mind of a student involved in the Armstrong Choir Department. We are given so many opportunities to go above and beyond what a typical class period can normally offer, whether it’s participating in solo and ensemble, sharing our talents on choir tours throughout the Upper Midwest, being a part of recitals, showcasing our work in concerts, or singing national anthems at pep fests, sports games, and academic ceremonies. With the opportunity to attend class each day, we wake up each morning knowing that we will do something productive alongside almost one hundred of our peers. The work ethic expected of us in class allows for enormous amounts of fun, as well as focused, motivated work, culminating in concerts like the one this evening. Each year begins with intense preparation for an amazing Fall Festival at what is arguably one of the best venues in the Midwest, Orchestra Hall. Following this Fall Festival we begin preparation for our Winter Concert, followed by our Large Ensemble Contest after Winter Break. As we compete against other choirs, we let loose our competitive side as we show off all the hard work we’ve put in over the past months. Early Spring brings us to Solo and Ensemble and our Spring Concert, the last concert of the year, that for some of us may be the last time we showcase how we have grown musically over the past four years. Many of us seniors stand among the choir where lifelong friendships have been formed through hard work and dedication as we journeyed together in our pursuit of choral mastery. As we move on to the next chapter, we will not close the book but rather will keep the tremendous experiences we had close to our hearts. We now know that music is the catalyst for our imagination and expression. We bring joy to others through our collective voices singing as one.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our many magical musical moments because a choir is nothing without its support system. On that note, a heartfelt and overdue thanks to our amazing directors, Mrs. Trump and Mr. Rangel, and to our funny, valuable, and talented accompanist, Mindy. A special thanks to our parents who have supported us on our busy, yet inspiring choir journey, which is being capped off with amazing AHS Choir memories that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.

On Behalf of the 2016 Senior Choir Class, Emilie Bukowski, Concert Choir President
As parents, it’s a joy and privilege to have our students sing in the Armstrong High School choirs. Our kids gain wonderful experience and grow their musical ability as they traverse from 9th–12th grade in choir. They learn the blessing of sharing that gift with others, whether it’s their families, community or tour audiences. Music lifts everyone’s spirits and our students realize how it brings people together! Ms Trump and Mr Rangel teach them that music comes from the heart and that it also takes hard work. All the choirs have an incredible work ethic and they see the fruit of their own labor as their pieces come together. Many of these songs will be remembered by our kids for years and the life lessons they learned along the way while creating music will go even further. On behalf of the choir parents, I can confidently say that the choir experience at Armstrong High School has a positive and lasting impact! We and our sons and daughters are better because of it. Thank you Ms Trump and Mr Rangel!
