ADEPTICON 2016 WARHAMMER 40K Friendly

In the Adeptus Windy City Sector, there stands one of the highest security prisons dubbed Statesville. One lowly inmate, newly released, teams up with his old friend to stretch his legs and celebrate his freedom. After a quick visit to the Sororitas Orphanage where they were raised, the team realizes the local Arbites are trying to shut it down because of their backed taxes. They decide to reassemble their band, the Blues Battle Brothers, in order to make much needed money to save the orphanage. Will you side with the Blues Brothers in their noble quest, or back the local Arbites in their quest to shut down the duo?

WHAT YOU SHOULD, OR SHOULDN’T KNOW…

• The 102 participants in the Warhammer 40K Friendly will be broken up into six teams of 17 players. Each team will be given a team identifier.

• Players should be prepared for the unexpected - such as extra objectives and surprise terrain - remember this is The Friendly; we are looking to have some light-hearted fun!

WARHAMMER 40K FRIENDLY BATTLE ORDERS

BATTLE ORDERS

1. Terrain: Terrain is not fixed; players roll-off and alternate placing terrain. No piece of terrain may be placed within 4” of another piece of terrain or the board edge. All terrain MUST be placed.

2. Place Objective Markers: Missions that use Objective Markers will contain details on how many need to be placed and any special instructions for how to place them on the battlefield. Unless specified otherwise, roll-off to see who places the first marker and then alternate placing markers until all six Objectives Markers are placed. No Objective Marker can be placed within 6” of the battlefield edge, within 12” of another Objective Marker, on impassable terrain or inside a building.

3. Determine Deployment Zones: Players roll-off and the winner chooses his deployment zone/table half. 4. Generate Pre-game Abilities: Determine pre-game abilities such as Warlord Traits, Psychic Powers, Gifts

of Mutation, Demonic Rewards and the like. 5. Night Fighting: Either player can declare that they wish to fight the battle at night. If either player does so,

roll a D6 before deployment: on a roll of 4+, the Night Fighting special rule is in effect during game turn 1 and all units have the Stealth special rule.

6. Determine Deployment Order: Players roll-off and the winner decides who will deploy first and who will deploy second.

7. Deployment: The side deploying first then must set up all units in their army (including Fortifications*). Then the other side sets up all units in their army (including Fortifications*). Resolve Infiltrating units and Scout moves.

8. Determine First Player: The player that deployed first can choose to take the first or second turn; their opponent can attempt to Seize the Initiative. If your opponent’s army includes a Lord of War, and yours does not, you receive +1 to this roll.

Game Length: Variable Game Length will be utilized in all missions. Mission Special Rules: Night Fighting and Reserves are in effect for all missions.

FRIENDLY UNITS Friendly Units are those which we do not see very often in the tournament environment. They are often considered inferior and not as effective as other more robust choices. That said, many of these units can be incredibly fun to play with in other environments. We believe all squads need a little love, and deserve to see the battlefield; and we want to reward those players who share this point of view! Below you will find a list of units that we are calling “Friendly Units”. We will be awarding bonus points to Teams where players take one of the units listed below at maximum strength. Each army has two to choose from:

o S. M. Codex: Honor Guard & Terminator squad o B.A. Codex: Honor Guard & Terminator squad o S. W. Codex: Scout Squad & Lone Wolf o Dark Angles: Nephilim Jetfighter & Land Speeder

Vengeance o Grey Knight: Interceptor squad & Purgation Squad o Imperial Knights: Are you kidding???? You can’t even

use these! o Adepta Sororitas: Repentia Squad & Penitent Engine o Astra Militarum: Rough Riders & Ogryns o Chaos Daemons: Furies & Beasts of Nurgle o Chaos Space Marines: Raptors & Mutilators o Dark Eldar: Mandrakes & Blood Riders

o Eldar: Striking Scorpions & Vypers o Inquisition: Arco Flagellents, Inquisitor Karamazov o Militarum Tempestus: Lord Commissar & Taurox (Not

prime) o Necrons: Triarch Stalker, Flayed Ones o Officio Assassinorum: Again are you kidding????? o Orks: Kommandos & Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun o Tau: Vestpid & Piranha o Tyranids: Lictor & Biovore o Harlequins: Hmmmmmm… Shadowseer o Skitari: Ironstrider Cavaliers o Cult Mechanicus: Electro Priests (both flavors) o Legion of the Damned: No! They only have one unit!

MISSION 3: GET TO THE CONCERT AND SAVE THE ORPHANAGE *** READ THE ENTIRE SCENARIO BEFORE SETTING UP ***

It's time to travel the 106 miles to the Adeptus Windy City concert hall. Either help the Blues Battle Brothers get more fans to the concert or assist the Evil Arbites in catching the duo!

DEPLOYMENT Please follow the Battle Orders and game length rules as presented in the Warhammer 40K Friendly Battle Orders sheet.

Bluesmobile Place the Bluesmobile objective 6" in a random direction (scatter dice) from the center of the board.

Arbites Car: Place the Arbites Car objective 6" in a random direction (scatter dice) from the center of the board.

:: HAMMER AND ANVIL ::

MISSION SPECIAL RULES Night Fighting Reserves

The Cars: At the start of each player turn, roll for each objective (car). Move each objective in a random direction (hits scatter the direction of the arrow) 3d6 inches. Each army is affected by the objectives differently:

IMPERIAL • If you're within 9" of the Bluesmobile at the start of

your turn, you must move your full distance towards the closest enemy model and tank shock/ram if you are a vehicle. You can't shoot since you're so intent on harming the blues battle brothers. If you are not a vehicle, you must assault that unit you moved towards.

• If you're within 9" of the Arbites Car you can run or go flat out in your shooting phase and still fire (similar to Eldar battle focus). Down with the Blues Battle Brothers!

HERETICAL • If you're within 9" of the Arbites Car at the start of

your turn, you must move your full distance towards the closest enemy model and tank shock/ram if you are a vehicle. You can't shoot since you're so worried about getting caught. If you are not a vehicle, you must assault that unit you moved towards.

• If you're within 9" of the Bluesmobile you can run or go flat out in your shooting phase and still fire (similar to Eldar battle focus). Get to that concert fast!

XENOS • You're not too sure who you want to support, but

now's the time! Randomize it before deployment and see which method applies to you for the rest of the game.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE Get to the Concert: Earn 2 Victory Points for every Scoring Unit within 12" of the center of the table at the end of the game.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES 1. Slay the Warlord: If, at the end of the game, the

enemy's Warlord has been removed as a casualty, you achieve this objective.

2. First Blood: The first unit, of any kind, to be removed as a casualty during the game achieves this objective for the opposing player at the end of the game.

3. Linebreaker: If, at the end of the game, you have at least one model from one or more scoring units completely within 12” of the enemy’s table edge, you achieve this objective.

Each Secondary Objective achieved is worth 2 Victory Points.
