Friday, M arch 11thI rish Night - A Celebration of the
Centenary of the 1916 Rising
West Cork Hotel - 8pm
A special concert of Irish traditional music, song, storytelling and dance performed by the members of Skibbereen Comhaltas. To mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising, all 420 Comhaltas branches worldwide will hold a Forfhógra Ceremony. This will include the reading of the 1916 Proclamation and the performance of significant songs, music and readings. Copies of the Proclamation will be presented at each ceremony to seven people who have given significant service to their community and nation.
Following a break for tea, the second half of the evening will continue with an informal session where audience members will be invited to take the floor if they so wish for some céilí dancing. A presentation will also be made to our branch winners from the All-Ireland Fleadh in Sligo last August

Tradi t ional Singing
All-Ireland Champion Ciarán O'Donovan will tutor a workshop in Traditional Singing
(English and Irish). Singers of all ages and abilities are welcome

Sean-Nós Dancing/Brush Dancing
All-Ireland Champion dancer Cara Hegarty will demonstrate the art of sean-nós dancing and also teach steps of the brush-dance - a dance which is guaranteed to delight any audience. All dancers welcome
