Friday, November 1 7:00 p.m. Requiem by John Rutter This concert is an offering to the church and community on All Saints’ Day. The Requiem will be sung by the Chancel Choir of First United Methodist Church, Conway and The Choir of Trinity United Methodist Church, Conway accompanied by members of the Long Bay Symphony. The performance is free and will be in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, Conway. Sunday, December 1 5:00 p.m. Advent Candlelight Concert The first of our Advent Candlelight Concerts in the sanctuary with members of the Long Bay Symphony. A free concert. Tuesday, December 3 7:30 p.m. *Holiday Concert A choral concert with Coastal Carolina University’s Choirs conducted by Dr. Terri Sinclair, Director of Choral Activities at CCU. FUMC’s Chancel Choir will also sing two pieces with the university choirs. Sunday, December 8 5:00 p.m. Advent Candlelight Concert The second of our Advent Candlelight Concerts in the sanctuary with members of the Long Bay Symphony A free concert. Sunday, December 15 5:00 p.m. Advent Candlelight Concert The third and final Advent Candlelight Concert of this series in the sanctuary with members of the Long Bay Symphony. A free concert. Wednesday, December 18 6:00 p.m. Children’s Christmas Musical This Christmas Musical, Christmas in Black and White, is presented by the Cherub and Wesley Treble Choirs complete with set, props, and costumes. The children will be assisted by members of the church’s youth group. A Cast Party follows. Sunday, December 22 11:00 a.m. Festival of Lessons and Carols with Candlelight Procession This festival service will include the Chancel Choir, members of the Long Bay Symphony and Lay Readers leading the congregation in music and scripture of the season. Sunday, February 23 5:00 p.m. A Hymn Festival A festival of familiar and unfamiliar hymns of the faith with the Chancel Choir, Organ, and members of the Long Bay Symphony. A free event. Wednesday, March 12, 19, 26 and April 2 and 9 Noon Lenten Organ Meditations Organ Concerts each Wednesday in Lent featuring a varied selection of organ literature on the church’s 33 rank, 3 manual and pedal Schantz Pipe Organ. Sunday, April 27 5:00 p.m. Music for Organ and Piano A concert of music for organ and piano duo and solo organ and piano. A free concert. Sunday, May 4 11:00 a.m. Great Day of Singing The Chancel Choir with organ and members of the Long Bay Symphony will lead the congregation in John Wesley’s Great Day of Singing followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. June 2014 Lake Junaluska Singers Concert FUMC will host a concert by the renowned Lake Junaluska Singers. The Singers, directed by Dr. Melodie Galloway, is a 14-voice professional ensemble which serves as the Ambassador choir for the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church and of the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center.     Music Ministry Mission Statement

    The music ministry of First United Methodist Church in Conway strives to glorify God through music

    in its worship and other offerings to our community of faith and the greater Conway community by

    inspiring, encouraging, training, and directing those whom God has called into the music ministry

    with a spirit of service being led by the Holy Spirit to guide with

    excellence, purity, humility, strength, and Christian love.

    Art Shows in the Commons

    Monthly displays of art work by artists from within the church presented in the first floor commons

    area of the church. Open to the public during regular office hours and on Sundays

    before and after worship.
