AUTHORISED IB WORLD SCHOOL

International School Brescia is a co-educational day school for Kindergarten, Primary and Middle school students from age 36 months upwards. Located in a former 17th Catholic seminary in the municipality of Botticino, 6 km from the city of Brescia, our school is a caring and safe environment enabling our students to learn and grow. IS Brescia offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) in English whilst the Italian language is taught daily and from Grade 5 a third language, Spanish is introduced. We are a candidate school for the Diploma Programme (DP) for students age 16-18. We are a fully inclusive school and believe that every child should be supported to achieve to their potential wherever possible.

International School Brescia è una scuola materna, primaria e media che accoglie bambini dall’ età di 36 mesi. Situato in un ex seminario cattolico del XVII secolo nel Comune di Botticino, a 6 km dalla città di Brescia, la nostra scuola è un ambiente curato e sicuro che consente ai nostri studenti di imparare e crescere. IS Brescia offre il programma IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) ed il programma IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in inglese. La lingua italiana viene insegnata ogni giorno e dal grado 5 viene introdotto come terza lingua lo spagnolo. Siamo una ‘candidate school’ per Diploma Programme (DP) per studenti dai 16-18 anni. Siamo una scuola completamente inclusiva e crediamo che ogni bambino dovrebbe essere sostenuto per raggiungere il proprio potenziale, ove possibile.

IB EDUCATION - PYP AND MYP

Students from 36 month upwards follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP). This inquiry driven transdisciplinary programme is delivered in units of inquiry that stimulate and engage our students.

Dai36 mesi gli alunni seguono il programma Primary Years (PYP). Questo programma transdisciplinare basato sulla ricerca viene diviso in unità di recerca che stimolano e coinvolgono i nostri studenti.

Students aged 11 to 16 years follow the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Organised into 8 subject groups and delivered through key and related concepts within a global context the programme promotes multilingualism, intercultural understanding and global engagement.

As an IB World School, our students follow an educational path that encourages them to be independent thinkers and learners. They develop the skills and acquire the knowledge that enables

IB WORLD SCHOOL - PYP AND MYP

Primary Years Programme - PYP (Kindergarten to Grade 6) Being accredited as an IB World School, instruction at IS Brescia is based on the curriculum of the IB, a course of study divided into units of inquiry. Central ideas and lines of inquiry within our Programme of Inquiry include all of the disciplines - language, mathematics, science, arts, social studies and physical social personal education. The transdisciplinary approach ensures that learning is engaging, relevant and challenging. Our students are encouraged to reach a deeper understanding of their world and their place in it.

Primary Years Programme - PYP(Dalla Scuola Materna al Grade 6) Essendo accreditato come IB World School, IS Brescia basa il suo insegnamento sul curriculum IB, un corso di studio diviso in unità di ricerca. Le idee centrali e le linee di ricerca all'interno del nostro programma didattico includono tutte le discipline - lingue, matematica, scienze, arte, studi sociali e educazione fisica. L'approccio transdisciplinare assicura che l'apprendimento sia coinvolgente, rilevante e impegnativo. I nostri studenti sono incoraggiati a raggiungere una comprensione più profonda del loro mondo e del posto che Vi occupano.

Middle Years Programme - MYP(Grade 7 to Grade 11)The curriculum consists of 8 subject groups: language aquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education and design. The MYP requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group, in each year of the programme; students are requested to attend at least 90% of each subject. In the final two years of the programme, carefully-defined subject group flexibility allows students to meet local requirements and personal learning goals.

MIddle Years Programme - MYP(Dal Grade 7)Il programma comprende otto materie: aquizione della lingua, lingua e letteratura, società e persone, scienze, matematica, arte, ginnastica e disegno. Il programma MYP richiede un minimo di 50 ore di insegnamento per ogni materia, in ogni anno del programma, e gli studenti devono frequentare almeno 90% delle lezioni. Negli ultimi due anni del programma, la possibiltà di modificare queste materie ben definite offre allo studente la libertà di soddisfare ai requisti dello stato e di raggiungere obiettivi peronali.

Part of our international mindset is the recognition we give to our host country. Whilst giving international students an italian experience we also ensure that our italian students have the opportunity to develop their global perspective at the same time as following a curriculum that reflects the subjects suggested by the italian ministerial programme. In addition to the IB requirements, IS Brescia prepares students for the esame terza media during Grade 9.

Primary Years Programme (Grade 1 to Grade 6) The students receive 5 sessions of Italian per week and during this they are provided with the solid base for correct development of their mother tongue. Students for whom italian is an additional language have their language skills supported and developed through immersion and supporting them as new language learners.

Middle Years Programme (Grade 7 upwards) Language and Literature is one of the 8 subjects studied in the MYP. Mother tongue italian students follow Language A - Italian Language and Literature and Language Acquisition – Spanish. For students for whom italian is an additional language they can choose to tailor their language programme and follow Language B – English Language and Literature and Language Acquisition – Spanish.

ITALIAN PROGRAMME IL NOSTRO PROGRAMMA DI ITALIANO

La nostra prospettiva internazionale ci porta a riconoscere l’importanza del nostro paese ospitante. Mentre offriamo agli studenti internazionali un'esperienza italiana, garantiamo anche ai nostri studenti italiani l'opportunità di sviluppare una prospettiva globale, seguendo un curriculum che rifletta i temi proposti dal programma ministeriale italiano. Oltre a raggiungere i requisiti IB, IS Brescia prepara gli studenti per l’esame di terza media durante il Grade 9.

Primary Years Programme (Grade 1 al Grade 6)Gli studenti ricevono 5 lezioni di lingua italiana a settimana, che gli forniscono le basi per uno sviluppo appropriato della propria lingua madre. Un sostegno ulteriore viene offerto agli studenti che stanno sviluppando la loro conoscenza della lingua italiana come seconda o terza lingua.

MIddle Years Programme (dal Grade 7)‘Lingua e letteratura’ è unadelle 8 materie studiate nel MYP. Gli studenti madrelingua italiana seguono Lingua A - lingua e letteratura italiana - e studiando spagnolo come materia ‘acquisizione della lingua’. Gli studenti che non sono di madrelingua italiana, hanno la possibilità di personalizzare il proprio programma linguistico, scegliendo Lingua B - lingua e letteratura inglese - e studiando spagnola come materia ‘acquisizione della lingua’.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION / ASSOCIAZZIONE RAPP TI CLASSE

The primary role of the PTA is to support and promote cooperation and open communication between school and families. Parent representatives are elected for each grade at the start of each year.

A healthy, nutritious lunch is prepared daily at the school kitchen for our students. Menus are published in advance and special diets can be catered for.
