On the Founders Day which will be celebrated on 11th July, 2011, we wish to

have a get together with employees who have rendered 10 years of service to our

cooperation agreement with Harbin Power Engineering Co(HPE),China to bid jointly for the BTG packages of

various power projects in India.

Harbin Power Engineering Co (HPE) is one of the largest power equipment manufacturing/EPC company in China

with a market share of 33% of thermal power equipment market in china. HPE has capacity to manufacture

equipments upto 30,000MW in a year and unit size upto 1000MW. HPE is part of Harbin Power Equipment

Company Ltd (HPEC), with 49% holding and listed in Hongkong Stock Exchange. 51% is held by the Chinese

government. The annual turnover of HPEC is USD 4.4 Bn

Training

To improve competency and enhance skills of our staff working in project sites, training department organized andconducted following programmesduring Jan-March 2011:

• Enhancement of excellence in Project Management for Project Managers. We completed training of 8th batchand plan to conduct 9th batch duringApril 2011.

• Refresher course in Materials testing programme was organized at Civil Engineering department, SRMuniversity for our Quality Engineers to enhance their knowledge in the area of material testing.

• Refresher course in Estimation and Quantity survey was conducted for billing and site Engineers at Chennai.Session was handled by M/S INSTRUCT, Bangalore.

• Training programme on Tower crane operation, Maintenance & safety aspects was conducted by ManitowocAsia Pacific Training division from Haryana for our regional Plant and Machinery maintenance staff.

• Soft skill training on Leadership skills and team work culture was conducted for our staff working at Bangaloreand Thiruvanthapuram project sites through Roots and Wings, consultants.

• A session on Contract Management and administration was conducted at Mangalore for our site staff working inMangalore belt by our in-house faculty.

• Training on project planning and implementation using Primavera Enterprise Version.

• Training on Project safety conducted by safety department.

• Training on surveying and use of Total station for the site technical staff at Skill development centre.

Material testing training session during Jan 18-28, 2011 at SRM University

Training on Tower crane operation, maintenance and safetyconducted at Saligramam, Chennai during Feb 14-17 , 2011by ManitowocAsia Pacific training division from Haryana.

ERP session handled for 8th batch PMs at Saligramam on17th February, 2011.

A king once invited all the great artists of his land to his palace and told them to make a painting of three hens andone cock as naturally as possible. He expected that the painting to come alive with birds before his eyes.

Many artists tried but failed to produce a painting which would surpass the king’s expectation. At last, a not so wellknown artist who just start learning the art came forward to draw the painting but wanted six months time. The kingagreed.After six months, the artist came to the palace and made the painting within an hour. The picture has givenlife to the birds and everybody appreciated and king was very much pleased. Then the king asked the painter why hetook six months when he could finish the painting within an hour.

The artist replied, “Yes,Your Majesty, it took only an hour to paint such an wonderful painting, but I had to beamong the birds for six months. I provided food for them, watched them keenly, played with them andliterally lived with them, before I could paint them”.
