From My Heart to Yours
Dear Church Family, I praise the Lord for His faithfulness again to our church. You have met and exceeded our Clear Vision 2020 finance campaign goal of $600,000 over a three year period with your special offerings and pledges this month. The campaign raised $629,755.95. I appreciate the leadership of our Finance Committee, chaired by Jeff Richardson; the Building Study Finance Committee, chaired by Bill Sones; the campaign marketing director, Shannon Aker; our church administrator, Joe Davis; Debbie Smith and Ryan Holmes for sharing their testimonies and all who committed to this important campaign. Thank you all. Memorial Day – a national holiday to remember and honor those brave Americans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of freedom – is this Monday. Today in our service, we remember their sacrifice and the greatest sacrifice ever made. Our Lord’s sacrifice on the cross set us free from the bondage of sin and death. He has called us to His Table to remember His sacrifice and the freedom He alone purchased for us. After the morning service, we will gather in the Family Life Center for our ‘Dinner in the Gym.’ This fellowship will conclude our day and begin our Family Week. This week we ask that each family set spiritual priorities for the summer. As you travel and enjoy times of vacation, make sure your daily devotional times, summer church events and weekly gatherings of worship are on your calendar. When Terri and I are away on a Sunday, we love visiting other churches and worshiping with them. We always appreciate this opportunity but it also reminds us of the blessing of worshiping each Sunday here at FBC Brookhaven. Two annual summer events are drawing near – Vacation Bible School and Summer Camp! Make sure your children and youth are registered. Deadlines are approaching. Sign-up today! Come, now is the time to worship!
I love you in the Lord, Bro. Greg
We have received the following and placed it on the bulletin board in the hallway by the church office:
A thank you from Sarah Oberschimidt and Beth Evans.

Brothers and Sisters,
Good morning and greetings in the name of Jesus this morning. I am so glad to be with you, the people of God, in worship today. This is the day the Lord has made. Let’s rejoice and be glad in it.
This morning we pause as a church to honor and give remembrance to men and women who have died while serving in the armed forces. It is good for the church to observe these
moments. Paul said in Romans 13:7, “…give honor to whom honor is due.” Well, if anyone deserves honor it would certainly be our fallen heroes. Most who serve us in the military survive. But many do not. This ultimate sacrifice warrants recognition from the church.
The instinct to serve in the military knowing the risks must come from God. The fight for freedom is something we see in scripture. Of course, the freedom that comes from Christ is a spiritual and eternal freedom. This greater freedom drives us as a nation to be a lighthouse for freedom all over the world. Where people are free politically and nationally, they are more likely to hear about the true freedom found in Christ.
God compels people to serve so that His kingdom can be built on earth through nations. We meet here today in complete freedom because of their service. Let us be sure to never take our corporate worship time for granted. People have died so that you can be here today. We remember.
I love you all more than you know, Pastor Nick
