- From the Chairman’s desk
How to build the nation? Many keep wondering and
deliberating on this and similar topics. No wonder
most of them don’t do much beyond this arm chair
planning.
The simple idea given by the simplest Indian is
“you be the change” that you desire. When everyone
changes a bit every day, it can make the strongest
and most adored nation. Our actions should reflect
our thoughts and our thoughts have to be genuine.
To a large extent Nation Building is the culture and
the mindset we inculcate at schools. Preaching,
lecturing, questions & answers, Quiz etc on Nation
Building is a national waste. Children should be
involved in activities that build the nation. Let their
thought be futuristic and about what they can do.
What should be done and can be done are just text
bookish. Doing is the thing. When done as a matter
of routine and with a positive feeling, it becomes
the culture of the person, the school and then the
community and the country.
Celebrating festivals brings a sense of heritage,
culture and community. India being a vast country
and home grown cultural festivities are galore, a lot
of national integration takes place without anyone
are prescribing it or monitoring it. No child feels
odd or questions when strange traditions are
portrayed part of celebrations; they accept and
appreciate the others and other’s
cultural moorings.
Building capable citizens is the responsibility of
schools. When the children plan, organize and feel
involved in the nitty gritty of the school, their
understanding and skills reach the next level. Even
academics will improve as their brain would be
challenged to be more resourceful and creative. It’s
holistic. Children enjoy every single bit of a tough
task or a celebration. Its seamless nation building.
Jai Gurudev.

Sports Day

Independence Day /Sports Day
It’s the 70th celebration of Indian independence,
time flies, doesn’t it? The efforts and the blood-
shed by millions of Indians to drive away the
British is still unforgettable. This important day
is indeed a bookmark in Indian history, which is
celebrated by millions all over the world.
GEAR Innovative Intl. School celebrated this patriotic day with much enthusiasm
and energy since it is also our Sports day. The ceremony began with hoisting of
the national flag, followed by the national anthem.
It was surrounded by an atmosphere of happiness and joy .What flickered the
audience was the march past which took place in sync with the beats played by
the band.
India’s diverse culture and traditions were well
portrayed by the students of 4th and 5th grade.
“United we stand, divided we fall”.
The students of 6thgrade and above depicted its
true meaning by recalling the unity and fraternity
amongst us. The display came to an end with the
finale, performed by the 10th graders, showing
various cultures and practices through an
entertaining dance.
The much awaited Basket Ball finals also took place amongst a lot of cheers from
parents, mentors and the students.
Every year, the phenomenal talents of our GEAR cubs are encouraged by
felicitating the winners in the field of sports and games. School blues, Chess blue
and Basket ball blue, were awarded to outstanding students. This was a
memorable day indeed, filled with great valor and patriotism. Jai Hind!

CELEBRATIONS
Rakshabandhan
Rakshabandhan is a festival to celebrate the love and duty between brother
and sister. On this day sisters tie rakhi on their brothers’ wrist, which
denotes their love and affection. The brothers in turn vow to protect their
sisters. It is a precious moment among siblings.
As part of celebrations ,the second
graders presented a colourful and heart
rendering play. It showed us the
significance and importance of
Raksha bandhan. We also got to know the
significance of the colours white, red and
orange. White signifies friendship, red
signifies love and orange signifies
honesty and prosperity.
The play was very entertaining and
informative and brought about a mood of
festivity among its varied audience.

CELEBRATIONS
Squash court
Continuing with the Olympic spirit, an in-
door squash court of international standard
was inaugurated at GEAR Innovative Intl.
School. The squash court has wooden
flooring and glass doors.
While
playing
squash in
a such a court, one should wear
non-marking shoes. Non-marking shoes
are those shoes that don’t leave a mark
while playing. There are also separate
shoes meant only for playing squash.
Squash is the only game where one
doesn't face ones opponent. The players
hit the ball making sure they don’t hit the opponent with the racket, as it
may cause serious injury. The players must observe the opponent and try to
find out their weakness and strengths to improve themselves.
- Aarya Tiwari, Grade-IX.

Janmashtami
The birth of Lord Krishna was
celebrated with a lot of pomp and
show. The weather was lovely
during the assembly at GEAR.
The stage was set with bright
lights. Energetic and vibrant
children of grade V staged a
beautiful play with Yoshoda and Radha discussing Krishna’s birthday plan.
They came from heaven and
observed how the people on earth
celebrate Krishna
Janmashtmi. Our heart melted like
Krishna’s butter as we rejoiced
watching the wonderfully executed
dance by grade I.
During the dance, a
child who dressed up
as Lord Krishna went around the dancing
gopikas .The audience rejoiced with great applause. It was a lovely
assembly and an enthusiastic way to start the day.

Diary Reading:
WHEN I WAS SICK
Once when I was sick
The time went tick tick tick
I took rest in the bed,
And ate some sweet and sour bread.
I slept for a long time,
And woke up when my mother sang me a rhyme.
At night, my mother gave me some bitter medicine,
And in return I gave her a sweet kiss on her chin.
In the morning when I woke up,
My mother was putting some glittery makeup.
When I asked her why,
My mother said soon u will come to know why.
I was puzzled,
And very troubled.
Then I had many people clapping,
And softy tapping.
Children came into my room,
They were dressed like wizards and witches with a broom.
The children had come to cheer me up and give some hope,
Collectively they gave me a telescope.
I love that telescope,
So I decided to give each of them a bar of scented soap.
They refused to take it,
But they didn’t want to break my little heart so they accepted it.
When I was feeling little better and all well.
In the excitement everybody yelled.
My family and I were very happy,
I tripped and fell very badly.
Everybody shouted,
And crowded.
I fell,
Everybody knew that very well.
After many days of rest,
In school I had a test.
I was all ok and got full marks in that test,
I had tried to my best.
I was happy that I got good marks and I was not sick at all,
So now I can play my favourite sport basket ball.

Diary Reading:
Namaste, my name is Pranay . I am from 5K
Last night I realized that in my life so far I have never
encountered an advertisement for a rocket sale, so I decided to
create one myself. So here I go. A rocket has many advantages. If you
are a roller coaster fan, you could sit inside a rocket and blast of in
zigzag patterns. There would be no line and you could control the
rocket however you want. If you need to get to school or office a
rocket would transport you there in fractions of a second. On
weekends you could fly to space and try fly, your rocket. It would be
an amazing sight having proof of the size difference between the plan-
ets. Perhaps you could owe a star birth! Possibilities of using a rocket
are infinite. All this would cost some billions but it is also available for
rent as well. But why rent when you can buy? If you are late to school
or office call 98978927 and get a free trial. You can buy or rent as-
tronauts or rockets at star sight.com, Astrogear.com and
blastoffnow.com
Here is a poem about rockets
First you blast,
Then go fast.
Zoom! You’re there
You’ve reached somewhere
Instant teleportation
Wonderful sensation
Treat yourself show-off
You deserve to rock-et off
Now I will share some interesting facts about rockets.
Astronauts drink water out of a tube because with no gravity
water levitates.
Food is sticky so it doesn’t fly of the plate.
An Atlas V rocket stands more than 19 stories tall.
A rocket produces more than 10 lakh pounds of thrust.
Rockets were first used for fireworks and signaling for help.
Rockets use enormous parachutes to fall back to earth.
The company space X is trying to make reusable rockets!
Rocketry is a popular hobby in the US.
Rocket booster that fall back to earth can be used again.
Heat from a rocket can heat 85000 homes for one day.

Friends We are best friends forever,
We will always stay together,
We may also be clever
We fight and play but cry never,
We have great smiles
We have a great sense of style,
And we are together for lot of years,
When we are together we have no fear.
Our duty is to care for each other
But also to share,
And we are always fair,
We make a wonderful pair.
God, we always want to stay together,
So please bless us with some showers
We want to bloom like flowers.
Winter, Summer or any season,
We always carry smiling reason,
We are best friends for ever.

CREATIVE CORNER
A teacher- friendly or a friend?
The age old shloka which we all grew up with,
GururBrahmaa Gurur Vishnu
Gurur Devo Maheshwarah
Guru Saakshaata Parabrahma
Tasmai Shri Guruve Namah
definitely does not work with the current generation. Children of this
amazingly bright generation, not only need, but also expect a teacher to be
more than just a “Guru”. Having taken the decision to get involved in the field
of education, I came in with the opinion that teachers could be friends with
their students so as to bridge the generation gap, but then I realized I was
confusing, "friend," with, "friendly." Being friendly allows you to be there for
them when they need a friend and at the same time be able to inspire them to
bring out the best in them. But in every interaction, we remain
teacher/student, mentor/mentee, not true friend, but definitely friendly.
The special bond which I developed with my students because of “Being
friendly”, is something I cherish each and every day of my school life. It is
heartwarming when students whom I used to teach, feel free enough to share
their problems or issues at home, school, social life, as a friend. And there are
times where I run into them in the school corridor or canteen when they will
expect the mentor in me to give them some ideas on their assignments or get
my opinion on their handwriting to know if they have improved or even which
competition they should enter for that academic term. An overwhelming
situation on one of the days was when a first grade student came up to me and
said,” Ma’am, you used to teach my cousin when he was in the fourth grade. He
said that you were the friendliest teacher ever!” And thus, I rest my case.

I-TECH ACADEMY
Technology is the new cool. Celebrating technology is what
I – Tech Academy strives to do. I-Tech Academy of our school is the only one
of it’s kind. This academy provides a stable platform for the budding ‘techies’
of today. Having fun and learning fundamentals of the fast-developing world
ahead, their journey began by interacting with a computer. Knowing the lan-
guage of a computer is a skill students have honed. Python, one of the most
commonly used computer languages, was practised. Spider, one of the most
renowned gaming platforms; stykz, the basics of movements to make a film;
and other interesting facilities Microsoft provides, were all carried out. The
students organised and presented a fantastic show of all the knowledge and
experiences they have gained during their academy time . It was an encourag-
ing experience , memorable, fun and motivating for the spectators to look for-
ward to their subject of interest next year.
