From Your Principal Safety of Children
I am sure that all parents and caregivers will agree with us that the safety of children at
school is our utmost priority. We have recently been concerned about cars approaching the
front office area and younger children being nearby. There have been some instances
where drivers have not seen the children and we are very anxious that children are safe in
that area. We are therefore now asking parents not to drive into the front office area. We
have some orange cones placed across the road early in the morning and at the end of the
school day to prevent vehicle traffic from moving near the front office.
STAFF CAR PARK—this is clearly marked and is for staff cars only. We have 41 staff and only
28 car parks! Parents are asked to park outside the school grounds for safety reasons as
well. We ask families to remind children NOT to walk in the staff car park. It is out of
bounds. If for any special reason, eg. disability, a parent needs to drive in to the school
grounds, a permit will need to be provided. This requires a request at the front office.
PLEASE help us to ensure that every child is safe.
Play is the Way—Golden Rule
The Golden Rule that we want children to appreciate and understand is:
“If someone is unlike you, seek to understand them.
TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO TREAT YOU”.
We are gradually exploring the ideas within “Play is the Way” at school and there are some
great principles to live by that we will encourage the children to value. We hope families
can support us with these.
Governing Council — next Monday
The new Governing Council meets for the first time on
Monday, 23rd March. We will be electing our
new office bearers during the evening.
We will also share our progress
with our Digital Learning
Craigburn Primary School is a learning community sustained by quality relationships
within a culture of respect, optimism and resilience. We are highly regarded for our
passion for learning and our focus on continual improvement.

Three-Way Parent Teacher discussions
We are really looking forward to sharing with parents and caregivers next week . Please
ensure that you make an alternative time if you are unable to attend next week. The
benefits for our children in this opportunity for sharing are significant. Thank you.
Circus Challenge — fantastic!
Thanks to Karen Pettman for organising the Circus Challenge this week. The performance on
Tuesday was extremely entertaining. It has been a lot of fun for all of the children to learn
about some of the skills that circus performers have. This has been a great “added value”
opportunity in our curriculum.
Kathy Terrell—Principal
Craigburn Café Thank you to everyone who ordered a ‘Harmony Day Donut’. It was a great success!
Volunteers are needed for the Canteen on Sports Day!
Sports Day is fast approaching (Thursday 2nd April) and we need lots of helpers for the cake
stall, sausage sizzle and in the canteen itself. If anyone can spare even 1 hour it would be
greatly appreciated. This is our major fundraiser for the year and we need the school
community to support us so we can all have an enjoyable day. If you think you can help us,
please let Sue and Sue know ASAP.
Donations for the Cake Stall
We would be very grateful for donations of cakes, biscuits, slices and other homemade
goodies to sell at our very popular cake stall. These should be bought to the canteen first
thing on the morning of sports day ( 2 April) labelled with ingredients.
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE A NUT AWARE SCHOOL
Food Options on Sports Day
As usual you will be able to buy scrumptious sausages (Gluten Free) from our BBQ on the
oval. The cake stall will be under the verandah at the back of the canteen along with drinks,
snacks, lollies and iceblocks. The canteen itself will be opened at recess and lunchtime only.
We have a ‘new’ Cappuccino Coffee Van, which will be on the oval. Please try to have
SMALL notes, as we do not carry large amounts of change, especially early on!
NOTE - THERE WILL BE NO LUNCH ORDERS ON THAT DAY.
We hope you all enjoy Sports Day and thankyou once again for all your support.

Sports Day
Sports day is nearly upon us with the students ready for an exciting day on Thurs 2nd April.
Students, families and friends are encouraged to come along dressed in their house colours
ready to support their sports day house team. A reminder that students must wear their
school hats during the day but if students wish to spray their hair with colour, they can do
so at home.
Students will meet in their classrooms as normal and then assemble in their house teams on
the bottom court. Come along and watch the students march down to the oval, warm up
with a health hustle and start the day off with their team chants. Students will then move
off in class groups for tabloid events for the morning. After lunch students will cheer on
their teams as we have the championship sprints and relays to finish off our day. Dismissal is
at normal time unless you speak directly to your child's class teacher. A program will be sent
home with students on the Monday before Sports Day.

Managing Anger
in Children
Wednesday 25 March 7.30pm
Presenter – Donna Broadhurst
It’s not easy living with our own
emotions, let alone our child’s ups
and downs. Yet parents can help
their children to safely express their
feelings and manage strong emo-
tions. It is a gift that will serve them
well for a lifetime. Donna gives
some very practical ideas and strate-
gies for you to take home.
