The Rapid MST is a member of TE’s innovative Rapid OSP product portfolio, which serves to enable more efficient use of CAPEX, lower OPEX, and faster deployments in the FTTx network.

The Rapid Multiport Service Terminal (MST) utilizes a unique cable spooling system to minimize site survey requirements, streamline cable ordering requirements, and facilitate faster installation of terminals throughout the OSP.

Terminated with a 12-fiber hardened multifiber optical connector (HMFOC), the Rapid MST’s cable will plug directly into TE’s Rapid Fiber Distribution Hub (FDH) or other HMFOC-equipped solution - eliminating the need for fusion splicing and speeding network construction.

The Rapid MST incorporates RealFlex Flat Drop Cable with reduced bend radius technology, which greatly reduces attenuation caused by tight fiber bends. This allows excess cable from the MST spool to be stored in a tight coil without any adverse affects in optical performance.

The Rapid MST’s hardened adapter ports support rapid drop cable connections and provides easy technician access for troubleshooting and maintenance.

FeaTuReS and BeneFiTS

• Supports a direct plug-and-play connection to an HMFOC-equipped fiber distribution hub (FDH) or fiber box. Eliminates splice labor requirements in the OSP cabling network for rapid, low cost deployments

• Cable spooling system eliminates the need for precise path measurements; reduces the need to order and inventory multiple cable lengths

• Reduced bend radius fiber technology allows excess cable from spool to be stored in small OSP enclosures with minimal impact on optical performance

• Flexible choice in number of ports: 4-, 6-, 8- or 12 port configurations

• Factory terminated adapters provide quick, secure connections for fiber drops

• Environmentally sealed, hardened enclosure protects from moisture, UV, dust chemicals, and extreme temperatures

• Universal mounting bracket promotes pole, pedestal or hand hole installations

• Flexible choice in cable lengths: 500’ to 2000’ (152 m to 600 m)

RealFlex™ Flat Cable

TE’s RealFlex™ Flat Cables are ruggedly designed and hardened to protect from extreme outside plant temperatures, moisture and chemicals. Designed with reduced bend radius technology, RealFlex Flat Cables can achieve a bend radius as small as 7.5 mm without changing attenuation characteristics of the cable. As a result, the RealFlex Cable maintains optimal performance—even in the most constraining of installation environments. In addition to the bend radius performance, the rugged cable construction provides the flexibility and durability to withstand the most demanding outside plant applications.

Hardened Multifiber Optical Connector (HMFOC)

TE’s RealFlex Flat Cable is available pre-terminated with the HMFOC connector. The HMFOC connector promotes easy routing and termination of up to 12 optical fibers using a single, small form factor hardened connector. The HMFOC eliminates splice labor requirements in the cabling network – enabling faster, lower cost network construction.
