FUNGI CHARACTERISTICS
2
• Can be unicellular (yeast) or multicellular (mushrooms).
• Can’t move about. • Heterotrophs: feed on other living things – break
down dead matter. • Some fungi produce mushrooms: --- visible part of the fungus --- reproduce. --- parts: cap, gills, ring and stem.
• They can be beneficial or harmful.
FUNGI MULTICELLULAR (MACROFUNGI)

FUNGI UNICELLULAR: Yeast and Mould

PROTISTS CHARACTERISTICS
5
• Can be unicellular or multicellular. • Can be autotrophs or heterotrophs. • Some don’t move; other have pseudopods
(amoebas) or cilia (paramecium)
• There are 2 types:
ALGAE PROTOZOA
Unicellular/ multicellular Autotrophs - photosynthesis Nutritious
Unicellular Heterotrophs – absorbption Diseases - Malaria

MONERA CHARACTERISTICS
10
• Unicellular. • Heterotrophs (feed on other organisms – break
down matter) or autotrophs (make their own food). • Don’t have bodies. Some have a tail, others don’t
move. • All environments (air, land, water).
• BACTERIA: -- small and simple (microscope)
-- Very resistant. All environments
-- Helpful or harmful.
