Behavioural change
The young are less interested in owning cars. How to offer the same freedom of mobility?
People want to use services instead of owning things. People want to share.
Use when you need, no tied investments.
Car is not a good investment.
Private car is in active use less than 5% of time. On average, 1,2 people travel in a car at the same
time. The value of a car is decreasing.
Mobility is the second biggest expenditure of households, and private car makes the most of it.
However, car is a very useful means of
transportation.
Digitalization enables a shift to a more resource efficient and
customer oriented mobility system.
Digitalization makes the transport system more transparent.
Mobility needs of people and available resources meet in a digital platform.
This enables better customer experience and better use of resources.
We can make more out of the existing transport
system.
New mobility paradigm
Barriers between transport modes fade.
More freedom of choice. More power to the customers.
Megatrends in mobility
Mobility as a Service
Making more out of existing resources by combining transport modes and transport needs wisely with the help of
digitalization.
All transport modes, incl. public transit, taxis, car sharing, bike sharing, in one pool of transport services.
Services for using car when needed are essential
to complete public transit.
A lot of underutilized capacity in private cars could be harnessed.
Mobility as a Service
Seamless door-to-door travel by combining different transport modes.
Essential to get from A to B.
Personalized service offerings.
Enabled by digitalization and smart cars.
Autonomous cars
Large investments in autonomous cars.
The biggest car manufacturers think autonomous cars will be in mass production in the beginning of 2020s.
Autonomous cars will dramatically decrease
the cost of a taxi ride.
What happens to own cars and public transit?
Car sharing and peer-to-peer rental
Car sharing models are common in bigger cities in
Europe
When do they break in smaller cities and with which model?
How does car sharing integrate to public transit and
other transport system (Mobility as a Service)?
Car as a Service
Using car as a service without needing to own it (leasing car, rental car, car sharing, taxi etc.)
Car as a means of travel instead of a status symbol.
How to create the same level of service
as private car without owning one?
Car services are an essential part of the transport system.
Focus from the transport system to the user of the
system.
Electric driving as a monthly service.
For consumers and companies. No concern over car ownership related matters.
No surprising costs.
