Our original purpose is to empower and inspire people to get out and move more. In a practical way we do this by providing unique traction technologies for all kinds of slippery surfaces and inviting others to join us. We can all enjoy being active outdoors without having to compete about the resources, growing the totality of health and happiness. Solv-ing a real problem has been the key to our success and making products that people need is imperative for using resources responsibly and the foundation for sustainability. Besides, without traction you don’t get anywhere, and we’ve got to keep going as we’re on this incredibly important journey…

As we’ve matured, we’ve added to our purposes. We aim to develop good work, that also works on developing people to the better (that means us, we’re people!).And we strive to be a change maker for our industry, and indeed busi-ness in general, to become fully sustainable. To create the change needed, being a forerunner is not enough. For example tackling the climate crise will be a team effort, where success will not be deter-mined by who get’s to net zero first, but that a critical mass do it according to the roadmap. FOLLOW THE FOOTPRINTS

With a soft launch on the website for SS21, but coming fully into effect with marking on all products for FW21 we’re starting a new era of radical transpar-ency in the performance footwear industry:The first time it will be possible to see the environmental footprint of a product and trace materials to the factories! And doing it instantly, by scanning a QR code on the product that leads to the key indicators showing how far we’ve progressed towards kicking the oil habit: CO2 footprint, total % recycled material and total % bio-based material. We do this because trust has to be deserved. But foremost we do it because we want maximum positive impact, which in this context means minimizing collective negative footprint. Sustainability wins have to be measured by how replicable and scalable they are. Our sustainability work is focused on (the hard grind of) minimizing negative impact of the mate-rials we use the most and on the entire collection, not special projects that get a lot of attention but have small practical impact. By making our supply chain open source, we remove obstacles for other foot-wear brands to change to more sustainable materials. And when they do, we all win. In the mean time, the transparency will serve to back our claim that Icebug is a more sustainable option.

Icebug uses only Gold rated leather (except for safety shoes).

FINDING THE RIGHT RUNNING SHOE

Our motto at Icebug is that the outdoors is for everybody and we think that everyone can be a runner. When it comes to running in winter, the right shoes is a key factor. There are two main things to consider to get the shoes right. What you and your feet need (style of running and pace, landing heel, midfoot or forefoot, wide or narrow and stiff or flexible feet) and what the terrain you will run demands. Will it be off-trail and very uneven? Technical or smooth? Icy or bare ground? Flat or steep? Wet or dry? Loose or firm?

We’ve made all the Icebug running shoes according to a coupleof non-negotiable criterias:

TRACTION TECHNOLOGIES

BUGrip®

DYNAMIC STUDS BUGrip® – is the name of Icebug’s traction technology for the most

slippery conditions. A BUGrip® sole is made of a special rubber

compound and has 14 – 19 integrated steel studs. Tips are made of

carbide steel which makes them extremely durable.

The design of the studs, together with the properties of the rub-

ber compound, give these studs a dynamic function. The studs

work independently from each other and are not completely fixed.

When weight is applied the studs push in toward the surface of

the sole. How far they are pushed in depends on the pressure

exerted by the user and the resistance from the ground.

This dynamic function makes the studs adapt to the surface and

provide the best possible traction on anything from dry asphalt to

pure ice.

OLXFIXED STUDS The Fixed Studs do not adjust to the surface like the Dynamic

Studs in the BUGrip® system, instead they are always exposed and

grip whatever surface that comes in their way. With Fixed Studs

it’s possible to make the sole relatively thin which saves weight

and improves the ground control.

The Fixed Studs system is exclusively used in shoes for very

demanding terrain, where reliable traction is of utmost impor-

tance. The studs are made of steel and has carbide steel tips,

which makes them almost impossible to wear down. The shoes

with Fixed Studs have “OLX” added to the models’ name.

BUGweb® is a traction technology that consists of a compatible

outsole and a traction unit. The BUGweb® has six carbide studs

and it fits into the special sole pattern of the BUGweb® sole.

The advantages compared to a conventional grip device are sub-

stantial as the BUGweb® becomes an integrated part of the sole.

The shoe can be used with or without the BUGweb® attached to it

which multiplies its field of usage.

OPTIONAL TRACTION

RB9X®

RUBBER 9 EXTREME Rubber 9 Extreme (RB9X®) is a groundbreaking rubber compound development. It sets a whole new standard in providing traction on, specially, wet surfaces.

Lab tests (SATRA) show that RB9X® outgrips the competition on both dry and wet surfaces but still matches the durability

(DIN53516 < 120) of an asphalt running shoe. In real action that means up-graded and long-lasting traction reliability in wet and slippery conditions.

RB9® is a rubber compound specially developed to perform all

year around. What makes it unique are the properties in low tem-

peratures.

Normal rubber gets harder as the temperature drops, which

decrease both its traction performance and comfort. RB9® on the

other hand is less affected by dropping temperatures and doesn’t

start to get stiff until below -15°C (5°F). The result is a rubber that

outperforms normal rubbers on cool and cold days. The durability

is still on a top level (DIN53516 < 120). RB9® is the perfect unstud-

ded traction technology for four-season footwear.

FOUR-SEASON RUBBER TRACTION

MICHELINWINTER RUBBER TRACTION For shifting autumn and winter conditions, ranging from wet city

pavements to frosty gravel roads, providing proper unstudded

traction can be a challenge. Especially since rubber tends to

harden and get stiff as temperature drops. In a collaboration with

MICHELIN Technical Soles, Icebug now offers a winter adapted

rubber outsole. Developed with the ICE Control Technology, solu-

tion formulated to provide superior ground control in snow or ice.

This technology allows you to relax and enjoy being outside,

no matter how slippery it is. There is no better unstudded winter

traction.

The tread pattern of the outsole is based on the legendary

MICHELIN X-Ice Xi3 winter tire, with Cross Z Sipes that provide

traction on ice and wide grooves for excellent water evacuation

and flexibility. The MICHELIN Winter Compound (Wic) is an anti-

slip compound that offers both reliable traction and good abrasion

resistance in tempe ratures down to ” -30°C (-22°F).

RUNNING

Arcus is the name of a cloud formation and this is exactly what this shoe feels like, with

its low weight and high cushion. It can withstand tough weather thanks to the water-

proof GORE-TEX® Invisible membrane. The membrane is integrated with the upper

material, making it even softer and more comfortable than a traditional membrane boo-

tie construction.

This shoe is for the user that wants to have extra cushioning, whether it might be for

longer runs, recovery runs or when running with a backpack. To enhance the comfort

and great running feeling it has a rocker midsole to reduce pressure on the forefoot and

heel and aid the momentum forward – giving a smooth stride. The midsole is made of

compression molded EVA which enables a natural dual density where the forefoot has a

higher density – giving a more responsive toe-off. This gives great comfort on longer

runs and yet provides responsiveness and a great running feeling. The BUGrip® outsole

has thirteen dynamic studs that provide reliable traction on all winter surfaces.

ROCKER

The heel and toe rocker reduce the force on the heel at heel strike, as the foot rolls faster off

the heel, and reduces forefoot pressure at toe-off. The heel and forefoot rocker together give a

smoother momentum forward, aiding the movement and providing a great running experience.

membrane, aiming at those that prioritize low weight and runnability. Water repellent

NewRun is the first real road running shoe from Icebug and it aims at all those that want

to keep logging miles all year long. Why deviate from (or cancel!) the regular workout

routine only because conditions got wintry? High comfort has been in focus when devel-

oping this shoe and then a waterproof GORE-TEX® upper crowned with the Boa® Fit

System were obvious features to add. Low temperatures don’t go well with a narrow fit

so the last has a roomy toe box and a straight toe line. The sole is well cushioned and its

wide base both stability and long distance comfort are achieved. BUGrip® outsole with

dynamic steel studs makes running on icy surfaces feel like a walk in a park.

Horizon is a running shoe for gravel roads and light trails, perfect for those that takes

the first steps beyond the asphalt and also the perfect option for taking you from door

to trail. Airy and soft upper with rich padding in collar and tongue mean excellent com-

fort and the lacing system firmly fixates the foot in the right position. The tongue has a

sock-like construction for even better fit.

A regular last in combination with a slightly wider toe box is the perfect combination for

Eide has a mono-material upper, using felted wool from Woolpower. The design is clean

and minimalistic with a sneaker appeal. The felted wool is made by upcycling scrap from

Woolpower’s clothing production. The wool upper only has one layer of material, mini-

mizing the use of glue and different materials.

Thanks to the excellent natural properties of wool, Eide has natural anti-odour qualities

as well as great thermo-regulating qualities – being cold when it is warm and warm when

it is cold. The soft and comfortable upper together with the cushioning BUGforce EVA

WATER RESISTANTWater resistant footwear use materials that are treated or dense enough to repel

water. Water resistant products give you protection from foul weather,

splashing and slush. The gain is a high level of breathability and the ability

to shape better with the foot. To maintain the water resistance of a treatment

a material needs to be taken care of properly.

NON ABSORBINGNon absorbing materials gain very little weight when they get wet. Important

for footwear used in wet condition activities where weightis a critical factor.

Note that being non-absorbing does not mean that they keep the inside of the
