Q & A with HasaniQ: Why did you decide to go back to school?

A: I always wanted to teach.

Q: How were you able to intern with Nickelodeon?A: I interned with Nickelodeon while I was in school at NYU, and they hired me after I graduated.

Production is really about talent as long as you keep up on your work as artist. Have your portfolio together, keep it current and stay on top of things.

Q: When did you realize you wanted to go into the arts?A: During my undergraduate years I studied illustration. I like creating things and being able to do

different things everyday. You’re never really bored. You always have something to do.

Q: What was your experience like working with Disney?A: I wouldn’t recommend it as a first job. It’s better to start off somewhere small. Disney is so big that

it’s a big pipeline. You keep doing the same things over and over.

Q: What made you stand out from other applicants when getting internships/jobs in the industry?

A: It’s all about your work. I had a decent portfolio, and I had a little bit of experience. The place that you intern at will help a lot when it comes to recommendations. It’s a very small world.

Recommendations are very crucial.

Q: How do they keep the characters the same in animation? A: They have a template of what each character looks like and the artist tries to emulate that. It

depends on the show, but they usually won’t have the same artist. They use an artist with the same style.

Q: What is your favorite animated piece?A: Beauty and the Beast. That’s my piece of animation all time. It takes a lot of work to do something

like that.

Q: Do you feel like education played a big part in your career? A: Education gave me the talent and the experience. Without the education I personally wouldn’t have

gotten where I am, but other people get there in all kinds of different ways.
