Gaudete * in Domino semper: iterum dico, gaudete: modestia vestra nota sit omnibus hominibus: Dominus prope est.

Nihil solliciti sitis: sed in omni oratione petitiones vestrae innotescant apud Deum.

Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam: avertisti captivitatem Iacob.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Let your forbearance be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Do not be anxious over anything; but in all manner of prayer,

let your requests be made known unto God.

Lord, you have blessed your land; you have put an end to Jacob’s captivity.

Apostles’ Creed (Please stand.)

(All bow at the words in bold.)

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

5:00 My Soul Magnifies the Lord Thomas Root (b.1947) The Tarnished Brass Ensemble The Basilica Schola Cantorum Minnesota Premiere

My soul magnifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior. He has blessed His lowly servant.

Surely from now on all all generations will call me blessed. For the Holy One has done great wonders. Holy is His name.

He has lifted those who want, He has humbled thrones of kings. He has sustained His servant Israel.

My soul magnifites the Lord. My spirit rejoices in my God. Holy is Thy name.He has blessed the lowly servant. Holy is His name!

Sing aloud, O daughter Israel! Sing aloud!Sing aloud, O Zion! Sing aloud!Sing aloud, O Israel! Sing aloud!

Holy is Thy name.Amen.

11:30 Como Estrella en Claro Cielo Skinner Chávez-Melo (1944-1992) As a Star on Cloudless Evenings arr. Richard Proulx Mundus

4:30 6:30 Benedictus: The Rising Sun John Angotti

As a star on cloudless evenings With greater brilliance shines, So resplendent was the maiden chosen for the Lord’s design: Fairest rose in all earth’s garden, blooming on a thorny vine, Virgin mother, pure of spirit, sprung from David’s royal line.

When the angel spoke to Mary, His good news brought delight: He foretold Light’s appearance when half-spent was the night. It was God’s only-begotten, the Creator’s gift supreme: Jesus Christ, the Word incarnate, sent to comfort and redeem.

From the stable to the hillside Mary’s faith would never dim: In her tears and in her laughter she had pledged her life to Him. As we celebrate her gladness, we recall her deepest pain, Tender and unselfish mother of the world’s most precious Gain.

To the Father, Son, and Spirit, Glory, honor, thanks, and praise, As it was in the beginning and shall be for endless days. Let our prayers rise up like incense to the Triune God adored, Joining with the song of Mary as we magnify the Lord.

9:30 Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence Gustav Holst (1874-1984) The Basilica Cathedral Choir

Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and with fear and trembling stand: Ponder nothing earthly-minded for with blessing in his hand, Christ our Lord to earth descendeth our full homage to demand. King of kings, yet born of Mary, as of old on earth He stood, Lord of Lords, in human vesture in the Body and the Blood He will give to all the faithful His own self for heavenly food. Rank on rank the host of heaven spreads its vanguard on the way As the light of light descendeth from the realms of endless day That the pow’rs of hell may vanish as the darkness clears away. At his feet the six-winged seraph; Cherubim with sleepless eye, Veil their faces to the Presence, as with ceaseless voice they cry, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Lord most high! Amen. -Text: Liturgy of St. James 5th c.; para. by Gerard Moultire, 1829-1885

Prayer over the OfferingsPriest: Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours

may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.Assembly: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name,

for our good and the good of all his holy Church.

The sharing of the peace has been an integral and valued part of the worship of the Church for centuries in the form of a kiss of peace or handshake.

4:30; 6:30 Simeon’s Canticle Manoling Francisco, SJ arr. Paulo K. Tirol

I have traveled many moonless nights, cold and weary with a babe inside. And I wonder what I’ve done. Holy Father, You have come and chosen me now to carry Your Son.

I am waiting in a silent prayer. I am frightened by the load I bear. In a world as cold as stone must I walk this path alone? Be with me now, be with me now.

Breath of Heaven, hold me together, be forever near me, Breath of Heaven.Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness, pour over me Your holiness for You are holy, Breath of Heaven.

Do you wonder, as You watch my face if another should have had my place? But I offer all I am for the mercy of Your plan. Help me be strong, help me be, help me.

Breath of Heaven, hold me together, be forever near me, Breath of Heaven.Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness, pour over me Your holiness for You are holy, Breath of Heaven.
