The New Frontiers School Board (NFSB) is awaiting test results and air quality analysis pertaining to Gault Institute, an elementary school of 194 students, located in Valleyfield, Quebec. Following a concern brought forth by the principal of the school, testing for mould and air quality was ordered in the main office area. With the results being positive, this area was demolished and renovated during the NFSB spring break (March 4 th – 8 th , 2013). CSST and La Direction de la Sante Publique (DSP) were contacted. Testing was also ordered by NFSB for other areas of the building; preliminary results are showing positive for mould. On Monday, March 11 th , further air quality testing was initiated, however results from these tests are not expected before Friday, March 15 th , 2013. The results of the air quality testing will be forwarded for further analysis to La Direction de la Sante Publique (DSP), who will issue recommendations to the School Board. While NFSB awaits these results, the following decisions have been made: Gault Institute will be closed to STUDENTS on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 12 th and 13 th , 2013; All employees of Gault Institute will report to work at an off-campus location; On Thursday and Friday, March 14 th and 15 th , off-site educational activities for all students and staff will be organized; The daycare at Gault will be closed at least until Friday, March 15 th , 2013. NFSB recognizes the importance of daycare services to its families and is actively exploring a solution that could provide services as early as next week. Should a longer term solution be required, our families, employees, and public will be consulted and informed. Of utmost concern to the New Frontiers School Board is the health and safety of its students and staff and all efforts will be made to minimize the impact on those affected. An information meeting for parents of Gault Institute will take place today, Monday, March 11 th , 2013 at 7:00 pm at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School in Ormstown. The DSP will be present at this meeting. Information will be posted on the NFSB website (www.nfsb.qc.ca) and on its Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/NFSchoolBoard). Closures will be also be announced on CJAD 800, 940 News, Q92, Virgin 95.9; CHOM 97.7, CBC 88.5 & 95.1, and on television on CTV and RDI. -30-
