Some of you may know them from the Austin Healey Club…but wait…there’s MORE…Rich and
Liz also have THREE MGs…a ’52, a ’53 and a ‘74!
Their 1974 MGBGT V8 has a 1962 Buick V8, the 1953 MGTD/C that has been totally restored
and the 1952 MGTD/C that currently has a MGB motor but will receive a Ford V8 60 engine.
The goal for the 1952 MGTD with V8 is to race as a vintage race car.
If you know of that special person…Rich and Liz may be willing to make a deal on transferring
the title of the 53 MGTD into your name!!

Thoughts from the Boss!
So what have you done
with your MG today?
This summer has been
abuzz with events you
can attend with your car.
I hope you are taking
advantage of them. We
know in Minnesota that
summer can be glorious
or then again not so much. I would like to think we have
been having a great year for driving our LBC’s.
I think as a club, we've had a good summer of events
so far. Maybe too many???? Sometimes there were
events every weekend, sometimes more than one event
to choose from. August had multiple clubs or other
sponsors looking for folks to attend. The MMGG
hosted the Intermarque Picnic at the end of July, then
Dawn’s birthday party, then Brit fest in Hudson, then
the Royal British car show then back to the Intermarque
picnic again. Whew! How many did you attend?
In July MMGG hosted the Intermarque picnic at
Cherokee Heights Park. It was a PERFECT day but
even though we sent out reminders, it was sparsely
attended by the host club. Yes that’s us. Although I
knew that we were the host club and we discussed what
to have at the club meeting, I did not notice that the
flyer tells all to BYOE, “Bring your own everything”
plus pot luck dish to pass. This resulted with those
members that did attend almost not fitting into their
MG’s from eating the lunch provided. Further many of
the other clubs also seemed to have a low attendance.
August 5th long time member Dawn Williams invited
the club to help celebrate her birthday and what a
turnout! The street in front of her house was filled with
MG’s.
Also in August MMGG hosted Brit Fest at Hudson,
Wisconsin. Another stellar day of good weather and it
was a success with over 70 cars total. We met some
new MG friends and saw some old friends come out
again too.
The date of the next club & Officers Meeting will be
Thursday September 7th Dick’s Bar & Grill in Hudson
from 6-8p. Come with questions, ideas, complaints.
Please note: the date of the Annual Business
Meeting is November 4th – 11 a.m. To 2 p.m. The
location is TBA. Stay tuned.
Here is a brief summary of things coming up. Put a
reminder on your calendar now. Wheels & Wings –
Osceola, WI – 09 September
Great event but in order to park together we must arrive
together. Between 7:30 and 8am! Your President will
be off seeing the world but watch your email to see if
we can get a group to meet somewhere in the North
Metro.
Members & Board Meeting – Dicks’s Bar and Grill –
07 September. Waumandee Hill Climb – 22-24
September Fall Colour Tour – 14 October
Also I am asking if there would be any interest in a
multi meter tech session? We all have seen the “free”
coupon in the Harbor Freight tool flyers. Even if you
don’t have that one a quick search on Google will find
a 20% off of a $5.99 digital meter. This would be a very
basic discussion on how to read a meter and what type
of things might you be looking for. Drop me a line and
we can look into dates. And while speed limits may
only be a suggestion, Ohm’s law can be less forgiving.
This meter in the boot could help keep the Lucas
gremlins at bay.
See you on the road!

VP’s Corner Once again Britfest was a huge
success, the weather was perfect
and there were more than 70 cars
on display. The cars were lined
up and down Walnut Street in
Hudson, WI. I arrived around
10:00 a.m. sadly without my MG
because I couldn’t stay for the entire event.
Unfortunately I needed be back in Eau Claire before
2:00 p.m. as our band The Night Hawks had a gig that
evening in Pepin, Wisconsin. I did enjoy conversing
with folks and taking photos. I want to thank all the
people who helped with the event and a special thanks
to Barb and Tom Belongia for organizing and hosting
Britfest!
I have great news, We found the Scrounger Award ! I
received an email from Berkley Fogelsonger. He was
the last recipient of the award and now we will be
passing on the tradition at the next Holiday Party.
Remember the date January 13, 2018. It’s going to be
a party to remember!!
(Randy Byboth, Berkley Fogelsonger, Dick Wallrich,
Kenny Merrill)
Glancing over the calendar of events in September
there are several gatherings for the club. We start out
with the bi-monthly meeting on Thursday September
7th at Dick’s Bar and Grill in Hudson, WI (Time: 6:00
p.m.) Come hear what’s new and share some of your
own ideas with us. There’s always good food along
with a cold beer and lots of laughter!
September 9th you will find Wheels and Wings held in
Osceola, WI. If you like vintage airplanes and lots of
cars this event is for you.
The Fall Drive originally marked for September 16th
hosted by Andy (Bob) Anderson has been canceled.
BUT a fun event to attend instead is the Waumandee
Hill Climb put on by the Minnesota Austin Healey
Club. It runs over the weekend September 22nd – 24th.
If you’ve never attended I suggest you do! Even if you
don’t drive your car up the hill, it’s a kick to watch!!
For more information visit the clubs website
www.mnhealey.com and for questions contact Tom
Hazen at [email protected].
Finish September with the InterMarque Picnic at
Cherokee Park in St Paul. And then roll up your sleeves
and get ready for October! The Minnesota MG Group
Fall Colour Tour will be on October 14th. We start at
the same location as the Spring Chicken Drive but the
roads we will be traveling on will not be the same.
We’ve picked out some spectacular roads and our lunch
destination is familiar (great food and drink) at the
Monarch Irish Pub in Fountain City. Be sure to
R.S.V.P. by October 7th with your food choice and
how many attending. For more details see the flyer in
this months issue.
Last but not least I want to thank everyone in the club
who has reached out to Steve and I with condolences
for my father passing away. It’s so amazing how many
loving, caring friends we have in the car club. We truly
are blessed to have you as our extended family. We
love you all and thank you!

Recapping a GREAT August with a HUGE THANK YOU to Barb and Tom
Belongia who were the ‘engine’ behind Brit Fest 2017!
August 12th was a beautiful day for showing off British Cars in Hudson. About 75 cars were
displayed at the downtown show co-sponsored by Dick’s Bar including MGs, Jaguars, Austin
Healeys, Triumphs, Morgans and others.
Proceeds from the popular vote ticket sales went to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Northwestern Wisconsin.
The top vote getters were: Bruce Hetrick, 1965 Austin Healey BJ8, David Meek, 1960 Jaguar
XK150 and Fred Ambli, 1967 Austin Healey BJ8
