gbolahan shyllon: 5 useful car technologies
TRANSCRIPT
Today the majority of newly manufactured
cars come with keys that have radio
transmitters. When you get close to the car,
you press a button and the car unlocks.
With smart keys, you don’t even need to get
the key out of your pocket. Once you walk
close enough to the car, it unlocks
automatically.

USB ports are a great tech feature for a
vehicle to have.
You can charge your phone while you drive,
or you can connect an older mp3 player that
has your favorite songs.
If your car doesn't feature TV screens, you
can use the USB port to power a portable
DVD player.
USB PORTS
Bluetooth has made it possible to send and
receive phone calls and even dictate texts.
While it’s true that drivers need fewer
distractions, having the ability to make a
hands-free phone call is a practical tool to
have while on the road.

Voice recognition software is becoming more
advanced with each passing year.
In the past, interacting with voice recognition
software could be extremely frustrating. You
usually had to speak a command multiple
times in order for the system to hear you.
Now advanced systems can grasp your
meaning even when you don't deliver the
exact command.

Adaptive cruise control (ACC) gives a car the
ability to adjust its speed and distance based
on the vehicle that’s ahead in the lane.
It accomplishes this through the use of
sensors built into the vehicle.
While this tool is typically employed on
highways, some cars now have the ability to
use ACC in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
