What is genetic diseases?

A genetic disorder is an illness caused by abnormalities in genes or chromosomes. While some diseases, such as cancer, are due in part to genetic disorders, they, also can be caused by environmental factors. Most disorders are quite rare and affect one person in every several thousands or millions. Some types of recessive gene disorders confer an advantage in the heterozygous state in certain environments.

INTRODUCTION

To let people know more about the symptoms, causes, risk factor, signs and test and also the treatment of the diseases relate to genetic disorder.

MINI PROJECT?

This is because internet is one of the most easier way or medium to find and share information or to deliver knowledge among society.

DATA ANALYSIS

• there are 47 people out of 100 who knows about genetic disease

• this is due to respondent’s education background

• some of the respondents comes from a lower education level, that is SRP (PMR) and SPM

• even there are respondents that comes from higher education level such as master and Ph. D, but they might not in biology field

• among the 100 respondents that took part in the survey, there are 17 people that suffering genetic disorder

• among these 100 respondents, there are 13 people who have family members that suffering genetic disorder

• with that set of data we can conclude that there are 13% of Malaysian that are suffering genetic disorder

• 13 out of 100 Malaysian have the possibility to suffer genetic disorder

• Malaysian have small probability to suffer genetic disease

• 17 people that will isolate their family members if they found out that their family members possess genetic disorder

• this data shows that people will take precaution method to avoid from person that having this problem

• also we can assume that these people are dislike to those who are suffering genetic disorder that make them try isolate even if they are their family members

• in general, Malaysian have the basic knowledge and information about what is genetic disease.

• this is because most of them get the information through flyers that are given to them

• however according to the data collected, there are only a few respondents that get information through internet

• this shows that people are don’t bother to look for information and get to know about this matter

• this indicates that Malaysian are less concern about this matter

• however, there are 75 respondents who answer that the cause of genetic disorder is through genetic

• this show that they are aware the cause of this matter

• data collected shows that there are 39 respondents who will not do medical check up

• while only 9 person that have been consulting doctor’s service

• also there are 11 respondents that said they never think about to do a medical check up

• besides that, there are only a few respondents that have ever been attending a talk regarding genetic disorder

• here we can make conclusion that Malaysian are not pay much attention to their own health

• so far we can conclude that, Malaysian are not well informed about the general information of genetic disease, but they already know roughly about those disease

• Malaysian also are less concern about the threat of genetic disease where they didn’t care enough about this matter

• this might because the low probability of Malaysian to get infected by genetic disease by only 13 person out of 100 citizens have the chance of infected with it

• because of that people are less concern about this matter

• however in this study, the data collected cannot be 100% trusted

• we cannot ignore that there might be some respondents that didn’t answer on what he know, instead he playing around by choose other option when answering the survey

• besides that, the value 13% in this study cannot represent the citizen of Malaysia because there are only 100 person that took part the survey because the respondents might didn’t represent the whole state in Malaysia

SUGGESTION

• the research period should be prolong in order to get more respondents to answer the survey

• this research also shouldn’t only consider the answer from the web, but the questionaire also should be distributed manually in order to get more data

CONCLUSION

Malaysian are generally know the basic of genetic disease but they are less

concern about this matter
